Where to even start? The weekend’s worst collision of bad faith, narcissism, conspiracizing, and navel-gazing was largely contained to Twitter, so if you missed it, be grateful.
Indeed. What about the so-called ‘moderate’ GOP pols like Mitt Romney and Susan (“Concerned”) Collins? Have they ever called out the authoritarianism and voter suppression? They may find Mr. Trump to be dangerous and vulgar, but are fully onboard concerning the major objectives.
Apparently American politicians do this walking parade thing. I’m sure there is a reason but by all accounts Empty didn’t get much of a crowd. Listen for her saying “buzz off” to one of her admirers.
Sorry, it could be too early.
Shooting up power stations? They must think they’re Russians.
Naaaa. In this country the bullets almost always come from the right.
U.S. law is whatever the President, SCOTUS and Congressional leadership conspire it to be at any moment in time. It’s very malleable, and becomes the cudgel needed in the moment to put down the latest threat to power. There’s no need to terminate the Constitution, those in power can just ignore it, or bend it to their needs as the situation demands.
See, THIS is what I’m talking about.
He won’t get any support from anyone that matters, after this statement.
This is his “I hate all of you, I’m taking my ball and going home!!1111!!”
And he said it, because almost nobody has come out with an endorsement yet for 2024.

Biden will beat him by 14mil votes this time.
It’s right out of the fascist playbook: Invent phantom threats to yourself and the country by supporters of the other side, thus proving that extreme measures need to be taken to safeguard the country and of course yourself. I.e. project your own behavior and intentions onto your enemy in order to justify the violence and unlawfulness you intend to carry out if given the chance.
Perhaps this is an attempt to recruit law enforcement, militia types and the military to take action against the left and its sympathizers and collaborators, i.e. anyone not of a MAGA persuasion. It won’t work, not right now at least, but by doing this over and over, they’re radicalizing their target audience and prepping for the day when they hope they’ll be in a position to act on all this and take over. I don’t really worry THAT much about this happening, but we should keep an eye on this just in case.
They’re more dangerous than the Russians, domestic laws prohibits deploying the military against them. And the FBI and our other domestic law enforcement agencies couldn’t stop the ransacking of the Capitol despite being given 2 months warning on a near daily basis it was coming. We’ll find out in a year the FBI knew in October the perps were planning this power grid sabotage. And then went back to planning their Christmas parties.
You are giving today’s GOP far too much credit: the real problem is that a significant portion of the GOP shares Trump’s attitude.

Great and interesting comments follow. From the comments:
I remember Pinochet did this a lot back in the mid-80s down in Chile, but never in larger metropolitan areas. He’d blame the bombings on the opposition in order to justify his crackdown on individual rights. No questions allowed. Oddly, the power would come back on within just a few hours. Symbology, only.
A reminder that sometimes merely surviving is the best revenge.
Why do I think she might have asked the Latino family if they were smuggling cocaine because she was running short herself? Or was it just too many of those gross New Orleans street drinks and too much stupid?
This is pretty good

Would this Constitution be the same Constitution that the new Republican majority in the House of Representatives is demanding they read out loud as the first order of business? I hope Democrats can have some real fun with that.
