He’s been indicted; I ‘think’ he can be ‘forbidden entry’ until he is acquitted.
I don’t know what the rules are on expulsion.

The representative’s court record does not list an attorney for the defendant, and a call and email to Nearman’s office went unanswered Monday morning.
@mattshuham This is incorrect. There is a letter in the court file from the DA to Nearman’s Attorney, Jason Short.

There is apparently an official conduct committee that could review the particulars. If a majority of the committee recommends expulsion, it goes to a floor vote where at least 40 of the 60 OR House members must vote to expel.

I assume he is from the deep red portion of Oregon, so he will hold this up as a badge of honor?
I remember seeing the first reports on this shameful act. Indefensible.

“I don’t condone violence nor participate in it,” Nearman said. “I do think that when Article IV, Section 14 of the Oregon Constitution says that the legislative proceedings shall be ‘open,’ it means open, and as anyone who has spent the last nine months staring at a screen doing virtual meetings will tell you, it’s not the same thing as being open.”
So no one told him there was a pandemic, a global pandemic?

He just happened to open the door as some violent protestors were seeking entrance. It’s sheer coincidence that in 9 previous months he didn’t let any nonviolent visitors come through.
