Only Way Dems Win Is Through Election Theft, Texas Lt. Gov Says | Talking Points Memo

Mask wearing deniers are asking for a national mandate on wearing a mask and health professionals would be on board.

wow! 24-hour voting access, that’s amazing!

I hope I hope I hope, that what is happening this year with voting will have a lasting effect. So many people have now gotten a taste of early voting, mail in voting… they’re not going to want to give that up. People have been talking about expanding these things for years, but it’s always been hard because not enough people understood how much better it would be. But this year, “election day” has been “election month.” And people like it.

Yeah and I think we might get that mandate.

What the hell is he yammering on about?

How can anyone, anywhere, after listening to this non sequitur-rich blather & claptrap ever vote for this guy? Honestly!! And he’s crooked as a barrel of fish hooks too, from all the reports I read early on.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, like all in the Trump clan, is a lying idiot.

This is why I hope with all my heart that Democrats & Other People Not Voting for Trump have been paying attention and have voted in person. If enough in-person votes go for Biden, there’s not a g.d. thing they can say.

Or as my friend just thought out loud, “Wow… fuck that guy! Seriously!”

(PS: that’s only the third time I’ve ever heard an f-bomb come from him. After 60 years of knowing him. Seriously!)

A guy whose resume reads “retired football coach and retired player” will speak like this. The VRA became law because of the Pettus bridge march and all the protesters who pressured LBJ. Yet, Tuberville is favored to win and of course he’s donald’s guy.

Well… The entire “hanging chad” thing of 2000 was all in-person ballots…

So every chance that they’ll be looking to wipe out democratic votes, no matter how cast.

I do not know the amount of Democratic voters left in Texas, but I hope that enough remain to make a good showing on election Dday.

That would take the wind out of the sails of those looking for a rescue of the GOP by the courts. I also believe that evidence of Democrats still in a position to vote on Election Day is a demonstrable indication of strength, even across separate states.

With tuberville’s questionable business dealings, he really is one of donnie bonespurs types

Ah, yes. The hanging chad thing. Thanks for the reminder. If you need me, I’ll be in the bathroom drowning myself.

There won’t be any attempt to stop the counting in Texas. All those early votes will be tabulated by the county elections officials and reported to the Secretary of State as soon as the polls close on Tuesday. That adds up to ~85-90% of the total vote in Texas that Steve Kornacki will be salivating over shortly after 8 pm ET. I expect the big question will be whether there is enough same-day voting to make up Trump’s deficit, and that shouldn’t take much longer to figure out too.

Don’t be down, we’ll make it through. May be a rather rocky week or two ahead, for sure, but I really can’t believe we’ve fallen so far that the courts will not look right outside their doors at a city that’s likely to already be burning if a case reaches them that will determine the outcome and decide that maybe they should step back from the precipice.

What’s the over/under on stoppages in reporting vote counts if it looks like they’re tipping in the “wrong” direction.

Zero. Even if Trump is behind, every other GOP candidate running for office still wants to win their own race.

But the stop in reporting in order to adjust things is the standard in most third-world countries, since the downballots would presume their fates follow trump, wouldn’t they be okay if it’s just not reported for a bit while the numbers are fixed…

We don’t wait to count absentee ballots til election day, do we? According to my information - I looked at Ballotpedia - we start counting before election day.

And let’s not forget the first generation Diebold voting machines that didn’t leave a paper trail, and the wiping of the ballot-counting hard drives (in Georgia?) so they couldn’t audit the votes.

There’s been some improvements since then, but this still depends upon the good will of the folks running the show, and frankly not all are there yet…
