One month after opening up, the state of Arizona has become one of the country’s top COVID-19 hotspots.
It’s too hard.
It’s too inconvenient.
I want my latte!
I want, I want, I FUCKING WANT. That’s the mantra of America.
Funny thing about a deadly disease, but turns out “stop living” is exactly what will happen to some that catch it.
But Donnie Poo said that bad old virus was gone bye bye!
This is what “liberating” your State looks like. No sympathy whatsoever.
GOP Motto: Work and Die. You can be replaced easily by others who will do the same.
I’ve long maintained their motto was “Be Silent! Consume! Die!”
C’mon TPM! Larry Kudlow just told me everything was rosy! Trump just said the virus was ashes. What gives? So are we in the clear or are Mexican’s making us sick?
Every day we wake up and are told not to believe what we are seeing and reading. So exhausting.
“Liberating” its residents right into the hospital and early graves.
Gee, nobody predicted this would be a possible outcome of reopening everything too soon…
The “stay at home” order may be lifted by Gov. Ducey but here at Chez darr nothing is gonna change until we see case numbers and death fade away. AND IT AIN’T FADING FOLKS… sad to say. Our home safety protocols are still in place. There is no reason to stop just because a goober or a nut case doctor on Fox News said so.
Just noticed that CA and FL are no slouches in the race to the top.
They “reopened” 28 days ago.
The median time to death from infection, for those who die, is about 20 days - with a long tail.
So several days of infection spread - that seems about right.
Wanna know trump’s responsd to the rise in infections?
LET’S BLAME MEXICO
That in a nutshell is trump’s good neighbor policy.
You probably have that bookmarked some place.
“…including a graph of increased hospitalizations in the state — what epidemiologists look to as the true measure of the severity of an outbreak”
That’s not fair. It doesn’t allow the governor to claim the increase is due to increased testing.
I feel just a little bad about hoping that one of the cases is Joe Arpaio.
On a per capita basis California is still about half the national average in Covid-19 cases. So, still a long way from “the top” if it isn’t penalized simply for having one in every 8 Americans.
For an illustration, here are curves for the per capita death rates from COVD-19 for a selection of states, I left off some of the really high death rate states in the North East so as not to squash the curves down to much.
See that curve on the bottom? That’s California.
There are rural states with lower death rates which I left off - but here is the thing, California is the most highly urbanized state in the nation!
So, no, California is setting no records in this pandemic.
And new infections didn’t all happen on the first day we opened here in AZ. So the infection and death rates will certainly tail off. You are correct.
Thanks Gov. Ducey & trump
Too muCh tesTing. LeSS tesTing, feWer Covid deaths. IT’s SciEnce.
