On The Cusp Of Trump II, A Way To Make Sense Of The Madness

I do not watch CNN. However, in recaps of their political coverage it’s wall-to-wall Scott Jennings, provided extensive time apparently to act as the GOP propaganda minister. He evidently can insist up is down and black is white and Republicans never lie, night after night. And now I read Oliver Darcy, a former CNN employee, is being told by insiders a prominent CNN Trump antagonist, Jim Acosta, may have his show slot moved to midnight. Which in the news world is akin to being sent to Siberia. The nation’s media are not going to be a pushback force in the next four years. More like lap dogs.

I am questioning where the heck did he find the $148 M he owes the gals? Did they find an off shore account? Is he really going to stop defaming them?
And he still has to face the contempt of court. Will he also have to face lying to the bankruptcy court about what was his assets verses his son’s?

I don’t know if this is true, but I heard this morning that RVers are trying to park on the Mall in anticipation of the sick fuck’s inauguration.

I hope that locals (again) give bad directions on Metro – for instance, some MAGAts were told to go to Congress Heights instead of Smithsonian, Federal Center Southwest, or Capitol South.

I’m gonna pick on my banjo on monday. A sad refrain due to too many idiots around. Prolly a best thing that I cannot drive currently due to my broken back.
I hate being mostly immobile.

I still ponder why someone would vote for a criminal with a serious rap sheet I don’t wanna list right now since it’s public record. The goober party loves trump and has shit on its former main selling point that it’s the party of law n order. It is beyond rational.

Merrick just needs to completely disappear. The sooner I forget about him the better.

Yup. Slavery was a norm. There are also norms that started out with real purpose but become obsolete. The cork sniffing doesn’t help our country one bit.

ETA: I assume this also signals that he has no intention of doing what he needs in order to release the classified docs report.

The “About” link on the TPM home page says “We are particularly focused on reporting on abuses of power and betrayals of the public trust.” You really want to see Dem faces on TPM? Our side has a few corrupt politicians like Menendez but we’re not that good at it.

I know many here are sick of seeing Trump’s face, but he’s the friggin’ embodiment of abuse of power and the public trust. Better get used to it. Or find a browser plugin that substitutes kittens, I guess.

can he fall into the hole just before the piano finishes the job?

If he pays them $148 M now, does the clock re-set and he can start defaming them all over again?

Doesn’t seem likely if China won’t sell it with the algorithm, but we’ll see. Musk bought Twitter to get the user base. Maybe he’ll buy the TikTok user base and try moving them to “X” when they find out TikTok is no longer really TikTok.

Rudes negotiated a settlement far short of the $148 million. And he’s keeping a helluva lot of stuff a bankruptcy proceeding could have forced him to sell to satisfy the judgment. Like Trump or any other litigant with access to good lawyers, he wore Freeman and Moss out and they threw in the towel, at least partially. Bird-hand-bush, etc.

Oh, while we’re on the subject of wearing down people in court, how much money has Trump deposited into an account in E. Jean Carroll’s name that she has access to and can make withdrawals from? Hmm?

In a statement, Giuliani said, “I have reached a resolution of the litigation with the Plaintiffs that will result in a satisfaction of the Plaintiffs’ judgment."

"This resolution does not involve an admission of liability or wrongdoing by any of the Parties. I am satisfied with and have no grievances relating to the result we have reached. I have been able to retain my New York coop and Florida Condominium and all of my personal belongings," the statement said.

The statement does not reveal how — or how much of — the huge damages amount will be satisfied. Giuliani had complained throughout the case that he’s been having trouble making ends meet, and had declared bankruptcy after getting hit with the verdict. A judge dismissed the bankruptcy case last year.

“No one deserves to be subjected to threats, harassment, or intimidation. This litigation has taken its toll on all parties. This whole episode was unfortunate. I and the Plaintiffs have agreed not to ever talk about each other in any defamatory manner, and I urge others to do the same,” Giuliani said in his statement, which he posted on X.

Meh, now that the bytedance CEO is invited to the inauguration, nothing a couple billion “investment” in trump properties can’t fix.

And a new RV for a Supreme.

I know I’m gonna regret this crosspost from the Gallego thread yesterday (reasons) but it reveals a damning lot about how we arrived at the precipice, answering the more-important question, “Why didn’t you vote against TFG?”:

I cannot tell you how physically ill this revelation leaves me.

(Apologies to the OP)

I find it hard to believe that he can just do this. I hope it is so!

I have a very good friend who has a really bad infection in her leg and it’s so swollen she can’t walk without help. We always get together at a local brewery to visit and sing songs. She lives by herself in the middle of the woods so it’s extremely hard for her to go anywhere now. She did show up last night and we had a great time singing. She recently turned 80.
