No UK prime minister, or any other world leader, appears to have visited the United States at the time of any presidential inauguration going back to when records of visits began in 1874.

2 things: He’s going to get worse and it’s going to be worse. He’s going to get worse has been my common refrain in discussing Mr. Trump over the years. It’s going to be worse is a comment I read in a Washington Post comment thread today, but it is something I have long thought. Monday is going to be a very bad day and things are going to get much worse after that. That isn’t being defeatist or nihilistic: it is just being realistic. We have to steel ourselves for what is coming and start thinking about ways to somehow come out better on the other side. I’m glad that TPM is here to lead the fight!
