On The Cusp Of Trump II, A Way To Make Sense Of The Madness

Israel is an ally. The ally was behaving atrociously. We did what we could to slow down Netanyahu’s war machine, but Bibi was hell bent on his genocidal tactics. Biden certainly could’ve done more, but to think that Trump would be a better President for Palestinian issues than would be Harris is just stupid. It’s also very selfish to misguidedly put the interests of a foreign people over all of your fellow citizens because you don’t have the financial problems that put economic issues at the top of your priority list. I get that if the Palestinian issue is your issue you would be disappointed with, well everyone, but Harris would certainly have been better than Trump will be. Sitting out or voting third-party screwed everybody, including especially the Palestinians

The first comment I posted here the morning after the election was “I thought our country was better than this.” I really did. I’m still having trouble processing how many Dems were attracted to Trump instead of Harris.

Go back to the 2008 primaries. There were a number of people who were Democratic primary voters in places like Iowa during the caucuses quoted saying “Oh heck we’re voting for the man”.

The hospitals should not be able to turn away a woman because she isn’t close enough to dying to qualify for care - so there’s that.I’m sure there are ways to slice and dice the ERA so that some of the outcomes are negative but that is not a reason to deprive 53% of the population of equality before the law.

Hell, it happened today and it was all I could do.

There are two things being a grocery store cashier will grow in you - patience and self-control. It can take some of my customers five minutes to figure out how to pay for their order, when they’ve stood in my line for two other customers before them. The self-control part is not calling them dumbbells or worse for their complaints. Sometimes I wanna ask them why they just don’t go down the street for their food.

Activists actually have been demanding that he do it, there’s been a petition campaign. Their claim was that the archivist was ready to declare it law, but wished the backing of the president first. So he may be responding to that campaign without having heard of this other statement. Or something has superseded something else. These days everyone’s trying to hurl everything into the bin before it’s too late – it will all have to get worked out later, I guess.

Well, I certainly hope you make it if that is your desire. I’m ambivalent about that issue myself. I don’t want to live past my ability to have a good quality of life. Not that I would end it on purpose, but I’m not afraid of dying. I just don’t want to be there when it happens.

Absolutely agree with your priorities, and feelings. There are just weird (and sometimes sort of creepy) questions about what it will technically, legally mean to make us “equal” with men. When we aren’t the same as them. With this Supreme Court. Which I don’t trust.

I was thinking more “head on a pike next to the Buttigieg White House”, but I can endorse your campaign.

I ran into him one night at a local restaurant and he was sitting with a couple of his friends. After we finished eating I sat down with them and we started talking about Nashville and that show, The Voice. He told me that one of the contestants was singing Angel From Montgomery as a duet, and they were doing the exact same version as the one he and Bonnie Raitt recorded. I asked him what he thought about the show and I think he was pretty excited that they were doing one of his songs. Anyway, I got a picture with him that ended up in the local paper.

When we left, my wife told me we needed to go to Walmart. So when we got to Walmart I ran into him again, but I didn’t want to bother him so we just walked on by. When we got over to the produce section, the two guys he was with saw me and we got into a long conversation about them touring with the Everly Brothers. After a bit, John walks up and were all standing around my shopping cart discussing the Everly Brothers. People just walked by us and didn’t even notice him. I thought, this is so damn cool! I’ll never forget that.

Yes and no. I have a hard time accepting a billionaire as a white knight who will profit off his white knighting when we shouldn’t be in the position and he should be in his position in the first place.

Billionaires are not our friends.

PERIOD.

ETA: I don’t have the bandwidth right now mentally, but I’m sure if I spent 10 minutes doing some Google Fu, I’d have at least 3 answers as to what he wants from Trump in return for slobbing Trump’s knob…and my thoughts are already drifting towards Epstein Island.
