The beef between Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Lauren Boebert (R-CO) isn’t over.
On Monday, Omar hung up on Boebert after the far-right extremist repeated her non-apology to Omar over the phone after calling the Minnesota Democrat “the jihad squad.”
Because of Trump the political party formerly known as the Republican Party is just going to keep electing people who push the boundaries of good taste and manners. The only question is when will they decide to reverse course:
3 years
5 years
10 years
or when Hell freezes over?
However long that takes there will be no contrition, and will some how figure out how to blame the Democratic Party, especially the Progressives.
Good for her, Boebert is a racist and Omar shouldn’t allow her to spew her racism without rebuttal. It’s not surprising that the Republicans in Congress won’t stand up to Boebert, they are now dependent on the racists to hold power.
I think Lauren’s unforgivable sin is that we’ve heard this from her before. She has no new material to throw at Rep. Boebert is just a stale piece of white bread moldering in the corner.
I suspect that Ilhan Omar would win even if the challenge were to spell “Lauren Boebert” and the challenge were presented to Lauren Boebert in writing.
Boebert must have been forced into this by someone in the Republican caucus because otherwise, what was the point? She’s more likely to lose support than not with her base, and it’s not as if she was sincere. Good for Omar for seeing through it and for not having it.
I have to wonder how Boebert explained away to Omar an elevator meeting that never happened. Obviously she didn’t apologize for a gross fabrication.
“Today, I graciously accepted a call from Rep. Lauren Boebert in the hope of receiving a direct apology for falsely claiming she met me in an elevator, suggesting I was a terrorist, and for a history of anti-Muslim hate,” Omar said. “Instead of apologizing for her Islamophobic comments and fabricated lies, Rep. Boebert refused to publicly acknowledge her hurtful and dangerous comments. She instead doubled down on her rhetoric and I decided to end the unproductive call.”
