Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter abruptly announced his resignation on Wednesday, saying that “certain personal matters that are becoming public will become a distraction for this office.”
Funny, the article doesn’t mention his party affiliation. Let’s see if we can figure this out. Oklahoma, tawdry sex scandal, white male. Hmm… it’s a tough one.
The paper reported Wednesday that Hunter’s resignation comes as it investigates an extramarital affair that it alleged the attorney general had with a state employee who did not work in his office.
Am I correct in understanding that, although this state employee did not work in Hunter’s office, this state employee was, nonetheless, employed by Hunter’s office?
“Hunter, a Republican, has been attorney general since 2017, when he was appointed by former Gov. Mary Fallin to fill the unexpired term of Scott Pruitt. Hunter was elected to a full term in 2018 and was planning to seek reelection in 2022.”
Yeah. A former congressman of mine not only did not resign but also ran for another term after a police report surfaced of a 911 call from his mistress accusing him of choking her. He later ended up paying his mistress an undisclosed sum of money.
Rick Santorum and GW Bush both still endorsed him.
He must be an improvement over Pruitt, because he didn’t wait for
"an avalanche of absurd scandals."
before resigning. Of course, maybe we just don’t know yet what else is involved, and I won’t speculate over sex trafficking, farm animals, really expensive phone booths, . . .
