Ohio Republican Leaders Gently Beg Trump To Please Not Visit Springfield

I hope that doesn’t mean that I actually need to obtain an undergraduate first :slightly_smiling_face:

So, of course, now he wants to visit even more, because nobody tells him what to do, and he won’t pay for the city services expended to protect him.

How could we tell? He’s already a slowly shuffling dead brained creature who just hasn’t switched from fast food to brains yet. I posit it’s why he won’t just go away.

Folks in Ojio can accept awful things and continue to vote R.

For Republicans, chickenshit is a way of life.

Having just divorced an asshole narcissist like Fat Hitler, I have some advice for the nice people of Springfield. Give it up. You cannot reason with someone who believes that he is always right 100% of the time and other people are just talking props in their field of vision. Nothing anyone in Springfield does or says can dissuade the fat asshole from showing up if he’s decided it’s a good idea. And if they persist in pushing back, then they become the problem. They’re disloyal. They’re starting an argument. They’re saying “bad things.” Watch. Give fat boy a few more days and watch him turn on them faster than you can say Borderline Personality Disorder.

trump says he will visit Springfield “within 2 weeks”.

Everything is “within 2 weeks” with that turd.

Springfield GOPers want him to stay away.

Our sin is what we’ve done and who we’ve supported in Central America. Sending Harris there was an important move, but there may not be much we can do now so many years later. I have spent time in Guatemala and work here with Guatemalan immigrants. They are Maya and many do not even speak Spanish–just their native language. They love their land and culture but are fleeing the violence and corruption of the dominant Spanish culture. Which in the past we enabled and supported.

If he does visit, I hope every single person stays inside and he comes to deserted streets. I worry about demonstrations that might get out of hand.

And they have the gall to complain about the economy.

What do you have to lose? Just your life or that of someone you care about. Or the life of someone you don’t know but care about. Nothing to worry about.

The only thing I would add is we saw the caliber of Trump’s appointees, the SCJ picks, and most importantly the folks he brought into the WH. I said it before but if one is a Republican and was even slightly disturbed by how Trump managed anything during his previous four years, he’s only gotten more mean, crass, stupid.

I wonder what the Governor’s powers are to establish a cordon sanitaire around Springfield in the event of a Trump visit – to keep Trump yahoos out.

This has Charlottesville-and-worse potential to it. It would involve a former President of the United States, his security detail & supporting local law enforcement, & if he makes a rally out of it, all of his potentially violent weirdos who like him, & on top of that, the “Groyper” & Groper & whatever else the latter-day Nazis who run around with guns LARPing for him and attacking people call themselves. Add to that the people of the area who have guns plus a right to defend themselves plus the emotional volatility of all of the trouble the former-president scoundrel has stirred up, and the worst-case scenario is not all that far removed from the best-case one.

Assuming Trump visits – because the best case is that he doesn’t even talk about visiting, and also does not visit.

That’s a general principle in my view, but it’s particularly true for Springfield.

Seriously, this type of “visit” or “campaign stop” has so many variables potentially coming into play that it is almost all trouble. It reminds a person of Tulsa, or Charlottesville, or Greensboro. And that is the type of thing Trump’s people will have in mind. Trump might just not be able to win this election, so he may want to summon chaos to, in his words, make it “wild.”

If I were the Governor, I would be talking to lawyers about what powers I have to establish a cordon. Trump is that bad.

In the spirit of wordsmithing, I considered alternatives: certificate, diploma, degree. Settled on PhD, and whatever education we each bring to the table is the requisite for admission to the program. We all learned what an Oxford comma is somehow.

I have a PhD. But I still suck at spelling and exactly perfect grammar.

I must admit it feels like my word skills have degraded since I retired. But I think it’s because I have no grad students to do my editing anymore.
