I’m beginning to see why a percentage miss Elizabeth Warren.

Of course. Anything to prolong the primary season and try to block Biden locking the nomination up.

This is becoming the opportunistic option to destroy our democracy.

Anyone got a list? Is it just GOPers suspending these things to slow Joementum and prolong the errant hopes of a comeback for Bernie’s folks? I mean, sure, I get it, hard to argue with them, but…

Any primary AFTER tomorrow, fine. Trying to do it
on one days notice seems fishy.

Well, if we ever needed a good justification for seceding, Trump sure is giving us one.

Sanders and Michael Moore helped (along with Chris Hayes and the MSNBC B Team)

Sanders did. Definitely won’t forgive him for that.

This is beyond wrong that this is happening.

Vote by mail. Exclusively. For everyone in every election.

This will backfire for Sanders. Being the Front Runner fits Joe well. And, believe me, Sanders is feeling much worse than if he had grown up and withdrawn (like Klob, Pete, Liz, Mike).

All Joe has to do is coast…and he was never going to be out of danger anyway, what with the GOP/Russia on his tail. That would have just taken Bernie’s place.

AOC is going to be working with Joe, and Bernie does not wear cooperation well.

And everybody but the cultists (who we couldn’t turn anyway) will see it.

Unless they are practicing voter suppression which overcrowds the polls that should be not so crowded for a primary…
Oh Wait…

And if he had gracefully withdrawn and pledged to help Joe beat Trump , his legacy would have been sealed as someone who put country before self, instead of selfish old man
Oh Well
A fellow can dream

Uhm has anyone given a thought to the average of age of poll workers? In my area the poll workers in are in danger zone, not by much, but still.

You’re kidding, right?

I encourage you to balance in your mind the increased risk of having polling placed flooded with thousands of people vs. the “danger to democracy” implied by delaying the polling until the danger of the pandemic may have passed.

I don’t recall this kind of outrage being expressed at all the polling places being shut down in South Carolina, Texas, and California a couple of weeks ago.

Lol at thinking Sanders has anything to do with this decision.

You know, there really is an epidemic going on out there. And I’d wager that 73-year old Republican Governor Mike DeWine cares 1000 times more about the health of Ohio citizens than he cares about any possible way that delaying this vote might tilt the Democratic primary one way or the other.

You’re literally sounding more paranoid than Sanders supporters right now.

This is my concern, too. I volunteered at the polls one election, and the vast majority of workers were senior citizens. I live in Ohio and while delaying an election feels wrong at a gut level, I support this decision. Not a Governor Dewine fan in general, but I believe his motivations are for public health reasons.

Oregon already does – exclusively.

This is a good insight. Not only are the election clerks and judges usually older and retired, but the base of the Democratic party is the older voters too. We don’t want them all killed off by November (despite what the adorable-deplorables hope the virus as a ‘boomer eradicator’ or some such sweet non-nonsensical drivel.)

It looks bad the day before - and it looks bad DeWine being an R – and those who say it is because of health reasons are probably 99% correct. Ohio has closed schools, bars and restaurants.

HOWEVER… how does he know that June 2nd will be any better than March 17th? If we succeed in bending the curve older people will still be at risk. They could do things to make polling places safer, prevent people from extra close contact, wipe down surfaces, etc.etc. etc. –

How important is our election?

Meanwhile – Bernie could solve this problem by dropping out. He isn’t going to win this primary season either – he has less support than he had when he ran against Hillary (albiet larger field of candidates). Joe has more support than Hillary had – also facing a larger field of candidates.

Bernie supporters on here – would you contact his campaign and ask him to step up and become a national hero in the quest to remove pathetic-donald from office? Just asking. Would he even listen to y’all?

I just worry a wee bit about normalizing delays in elections. It could be used as a precedent by You Know Who in November

I appreciate Gov. DeWine’s concerns, but the facts on the ground have been clear for several weeks. Sending this out on Election Eve is pretty weak. I think the March 17th elections should go on as planned, but the Secretary of States in FL, OH, AZ and IL need to keep polling places open longer and encourage people to vote off the “peak” hours of 5-7 pm. Leave the polls open until midnight if required.

When I voted in Missouri last week, I was the only voter in line. (Me and a half dozen senior citizen poll workers, LOL.) I got in and out in 5 minutes. I thought this was a sign of low turnout, but we had record turnout in the Dem. primary last week. If you have enough polling places and extended hours, there needn’t be long lines or large congregations of voters.

If you vote by mail, you get NO lines and greater participation. If there is a silver lining in this COVID-19 disaster, it may be a demand for nation-wide vote-by-mail instantiation.

Just making the recommendation will suppress the vote of older Democrats who would favor Biden. Mission accomplished, Governor.
