Oh No You Don’t: Fired Trump-Era Official Who Won’t Leave Is Blocked From Agency’s Computers

Sounds about the same as trying to rob the wrong bank. He’s a criminal nitwit, but still a criminal.

https://www.scotusblog.com/2020/06/opinion-analysis-court-strikes-down-restrictions-on-removal-of-cfpb-director-but-leaves-bureau-in-place/

In an opinion by Chief Justice John Roberts, the court ruled that the removal restrictions violate the Constitution’s separation of powers. Article II of the Constitution, Roberts explained, gives executive power to the president and empowers him to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” History and precedent have long confirmed that such a power includes the power to remove executive officials.

Roberts and the SCOTUS basically greenlit the President’s ability to fire whoever they want at any time within the executive branch (barring a few restrictions). This case was with respects to the CFPB director, but it wasn’t limited to just that agency.

Conservatives basically got exactly what they wanted with their Unitary executive theory of the Executive branch. Complaining when Democrats use those powers is just bad faith.

Actually, trump is responsible for Saul’s firing.

When trump ignored job protections to fire the acting head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in order to put Mick Mulvaney in charge, the case went all the way up to the Supreme Court. trump’s and McConnell’s SCOTUS ruled that the President could fire whomever he wanted - setting the precedent used by Biden.

[sorry @noonm - When I started writing this I didn’t see your response - which was better than mine! :rage::smile:]

That’s some big brass balls for such a puny little twerp: personally fired by the President of the United States of America, and he says “nuh-uh!” Now I’ve seen it all.

You’re probably thinking of the Computer Fraud and Abuse act, a hideously overbroad federal law enacted back in the dawn age of online communications in the 1980s. But even CFAA does not criminalize an unsuccessful attempt to log on with expired credentials. You would have to actually get into the system without authorization.

So he’s “special” and gets to walk?

Tragically, ex-commissioner Saul was subsequently eaten by a velociraptor.

In a very suspicious turn of events, the Trump Organization removed Allen Weisselberg as an officer/director of over 40 properties immediately after his indictment, including the Scotland golf course.

Republicans who spent four years allowing Trump to weaponize whatever agency he wanted for his political interests kicked up a fuss over Saul’s firing and accused Biden of politicizing the agency.

What utter bullshit. If a politician put you in a job, a different politician can fire you from the job. Unlike the courts, these are not lifetime or even termed appointments.

I’ve lost track of how many times he has wanted someone executed, or shot in the streets, or some other extreme response. But yeah, reinstate or reelect a guy who wants to kill people who have annoyed him. What could go wrong?

Well, walk home and wait for his trial.

I would guess that loan convenants prohibit a felony indictee from holding a corporate officer position. That he’s still an officer in other Trump Org entities probably correlates with the absense of loans.

Ah! but now … old duplicitous Tim has jumped into the sludge sans HAZMAT suit … because that might lead to something to be gained - for him.

What First Grader couldn’t at least identify the White House? The two buildings look nothing alike…except they are white.

He was certainly told on Friday that his login privileges were being suspended that very moment of firing. So Monday’s stunt is just for the computer illiterati who watch Fox.
