Gosh, and all it took for the authorities to finally do their jobs and arrest a criminal who was caught on video committing murder was a couple days of rioting.

Patience. It’s coming I think. It’s a harder decision to justify legally, but I think they’ll get there. It will just take a couple more days. The most important thing to do was triage the situation by making a swift decision on Chauvin.

OMG, I just saw the video where there were 3 cops kneeling on Floyd and one just standing. All of those guys have to be arrested. He couldn’t have gotten up if he tried, handcuffed with 3 goons sitting on him. I am more and more disgusted by this.

Charge could be murder in the third degree, Minn.Stat. 609.195(a):
Whoever, without intent to effect the death of any person, causes the death of another by perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life, is guilty of murder in the third degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 25 years.

WaPo is reporting that Floyd and the cop who killed him were both bouncers at the same establishment. No further information on whether they were acquainted, and I wonder whether there will be more…

I’ve run out of the myriad ways to call Trump a disgrace and a monster, so those words will have to suffice.
What I really hope happens is that just as it took Trump’s lies and barbarism to force Twitter into finally enforcing its policies on the President -as meek as it was - it did finally set a new standard for them. Similarly, I hope the martyrdom of George Floyd and Trump’s violently racist response finally…finally forces America into a much needed conversation about our original sin of racism. And what must be done to combat it. It’s is so well past time.
Just as Trump is on the sidelines of Coronavirus, he will be on the sidelines of this national conversation as well. By the way, now who’s the “son of a bitch”?

He probably didn’t even know it was forged. I handle money so little these days that I doubt I could spot a forgery. Regardless, it’s $20. Even if he absolutely knew it was fake, there was no reason to escalate the situation to the point that he was ever on the ground.

When you are handcuffed, pinned down to the ground with someone’s knee to your neck, and you are gasping for breath, crying in panic and agony, and begging to be let up because you can’t breathe and are suffocating, you are being murdered.
Maybe that bit of information should be included in police training sessions. Maybe every cop-in-training should be subjected to this treatment just to get a taste of what it’s like, so that they can recognize the signs of imminent murder and develop an internal sense of wanting to halt the murder-in-progress, whether it’s you doing the murdering or one of your colleagues watching you murder.

This is almost certainly incorrect. They had to review all the body cam footage, gather security cam footage, interview everyone else who filmed or witnessed the attack, and determine the exact cause of death (what if Floyd was actually suffering a heart attack or a drug overdose, for instance?), among many other things. It’s not crazy to take a few days to conduct a thorough investigation.
At the cost of a ton of destruction to their city, that is.

Yeah, a softie who had at least 18 complaints previously filed against him and was directly involved in at least three previous incidents involving the death or serious injury of suspects.
