‘Occupy’ Protester Defended By Twitter To Plead Guilty | Talking Points Memo

Malcolm Harris, the 23-year-old “Occupy Wall Street” protester arrested along with about 400 others during a protest march across the Brooklyn Bridge in October 2011, will plead guilty to his original charge of disorderly conduct and could serve up to 15 days in jail, Reuters reported late Wednesday. Harris’s case received international attention though when Manhattan prosecutors sought to obtain access to his older tweets on Twitter to prove their case that he ignored police orders. Harris fought the subpoena for his tweets and lost, only to have Twitter step in and attempt to argue on his behalf that he should be allowed to contest the subpoena. Twitter’s arguments were also struck down and the company handed over the tweets in September.
