They can only perpetuate this control if one, they’re able to do it, two, they believe that they’re entitled to do it, and three, they choose to do it. All three can eventually be overcome, I believe, but it’s going to take a massive effort and a very long time. It’s like ending slavery and Jim Crow all over again. The more overt aspects of both might have been repealed, but both are still very much with us in modified form, especially the latter. And the way to do it, I believe, is to get enough Americans to reject institutional and cultural racism, and the belief that whites are superior to non-whites.

The Obama presidency instead of bringing a new era of racial harmony that I was expecting, it fractured the thin crust of civility and the boiling hatred started to flow. Trump didn’t create that hatred, he is only the personification of that hatred, White America showing how much they hate us, and all the insults that they have been repressing. Trump is a big “F***U!”.
I live in a well integrated area, and I loved it safe good schools, tons of diversity. As soon as Trump was elected, a boy that in the past friendly with my daughter told her that he hoped she got deported. A woman that worked with my wife could not contain her glee about the historic election…
I don’t fault Obama, he bent himself backward trying to avoid threatening and appeasing the White Supremacists to no avail. It’s just that there is no fixing for a large segment of White America.

Haha…yeah. Also, Obama only released a written statement because he’s coordinating with Joe and making sure he’s not doing anything to interfere with or overshadow Joe being able to capture peoples’ attention on these issues. They were both very smart about how this messaging was done today, particularly because their statements clearly dovetailed.
