Obama Hypes Warren To Wealthy Donors Reluctant To Support Her

Last month, former President Barack Obama indicated that he would support any Democrat who ends up winning the primary election. But Obama has reportedly gone the extra mile to prop up one candidate in particular to wealthy donors: Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).

TPM… The headline doesn’t match the rather more prosaic and practical reality… Of Course everyone needs to get behind the nominee, regardless of who it is.

“Vote blue, no matter who.”

That President Obama would endorse this sentiment is a real shocker…

“Vote red, we’re all dead.”

Anybody but Bernie is what Obama’s saying.

He also said women should be in charge, so do the math.

Yeah, I confess, I’m just stirring the pot.

But he could carry Rhode Island

Well, there’s that implication for sure.

I wonder how Biden feels about Obama speaking up for Warren, as well as his recent comments about how old politicians should make room for the next generation. I know that was meant to be a sweeping comment about politics in general, and not specifically about the primary. But still…

Maybe feeling a little guilty about how he treated her during his administration, and trying to atone?

I got the feeling that Obama doesn’t think Dems could win in 2020. If he had any preference in this field, we would’ve known it by now. Here’s an interesting article https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2019/11/26/barack-obama-2020-democrats-candidates-biden-073025
Harry Reid, on the other hand, is the one who keeps pushing Warren and Sanders.

WHen it comes to political infighting I’d trust Harry more than Barack, not that he was bad at it, just think Reid has been at it longer and is more in touch with the unions and average worker.

I’d say both have pretty good political instincts, and I wasn’t implying that they’re in conflict. I just meant Reid thinks the progressive wing has a better chance to win, not that he’s sure Dems will win.

Makes sense, the wealthy are so spooked by a Warren Presidency Bloomberg jumped in the race.

The article/quotes says to me that Obama is simply telling people Support the Nominee no matter who it is. What an absolute crime!

Meanwhile, we have a clear frontrunner in Austin, if you’re going by yard signs and bumper stickers. I saw four of these yesterday.

True enough, Castor Troy. But it’s probably because of those billionaires that we have Bloomberg in the race. And we’ve already seen a number of wealthy folks hedge their bets if Warren is the nominee, rather than, say, Biden or Buttigieg.

If Obama felt like he had to say this, there was probably a reason. Unfortunately, I don’t believe we can trust any fat cat billionaire - Democrat or Republican
