Obama Hails Senate Rules Changes | Talking Points Memo

Following passage of the new rules changes in the Senate Thursday evening, President Obama expressed optimism that the changes would bring an end to “unnecessary obstruction” in the Senate. “I am hopeful that today’s bipartisan agreement will pave the way for the Senate to take meaningful action in the days and weeks ahead,” Obama said, in a statement released by the White House. The changes, particularly to the filibuster, fell far short of what reformers had sought.
