NYT: Trump Campaign Is Video-Surveilling Philadelphia Ballot Drop Boxes | Talking Points Memo

The Trump campaign is conducting video surveillance of Philadelphia voters turning in mail-in ballots at drop boxes, according to a New York Times report. Then the campaign is using that footage to make accusations of impropriety when a voter turns in two or three ballots, according to the new report.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://talkingpointsmemo.com/?p=1340001

It would be ironic if their surveillance inadvertently caught a MAGAt burning or vandalizing a drop box and the video got subpoenaed by the court without them checking its contents.

I dropped my sealed ballot and my wife’s sealed ballot into the mailbox near my house 10 days ago. Sue me.

That was my first thought about “multiple ballots.” Probably a family member taking the household’s ballots in one go rather than each doing it individually.

My husband took mine and mailed it with his way back right after we got them.

Does this mean like…a human being standing there with a camera? I assume it does, in which case, yeah: open and closed case of voter intimidation.

Exactly. Someone dropping off more than one ballot proves nothing.

Exactly…I dropped mine with my husband’s in the ballot box…

It’s ridiculous if states will not allow that.

How is it different from a person dropping several in a mail box at the same time?

This smacks of Trump’s MO of nickel and diming small contractors. Trump won’t be a better candidate so he trashes the process. Just like a little kid who is losing at Monopoly and tips the board over.
I just want him to go away, and if he goes in huff even better.

It’s not

@donnyyoung

It’s perfectly legal for a spouse to drop off a spouse’s ballot or a close relative or caretaker or whomever.

It’s not like someone driving up with a box full of envelopes, no? That would be suspicious. They are trying to bootstrap normal behavior, legal behavior, into fraud. But they’ve been doing this for awhile. They are paying for it right now - and yet they can’t quit.

The harder they try to make it to vote in Harris Co, Texas, apparently the heavier the turnout since this election they’ve done everything to make it as hard as possible. The early voting in Harris Co is stunning. Just stunning.

He just wants to slow down the counting process so he has more time to rant and rave about mysterious circumstances, and thereby rile up his supporters even more.

I liked the sentence about having the complaint passed on to local prosecutors, although not as a formal complaint. Because local prosecutors have nothing else to do.
