Got one word for you, Epstein: consent.

“Last summer, Jeffrey Esptein told a New York Times reporter that criminalizing sex with young girls was a “cultural aberration” similar to how homosexuality was once viewed…”

Isn’t this what the Man/Boy Love whatever group had to say about the rape of little boys? Pervert. Good thing he didn’t have daughters or he’d have gone on about the glories of father-daughter “love. ”

People try to justify anything is ok, if it’s something they want to do.

Not many actual details in the NYT article. Mostly vague braggadocio.

It’s always fascinating how sociopaths justify their conduct. Always cool, calm, and many times supported by some historic reference.

I once had the unfortunate ‘opportunity’ to read the diary of a pedophile who also committed suicide. Doing so was a very dark experience, but also was a similar exercise in justification, and once again made me realize how hard it is for the more ‘normal’ of us to fully understand these people.

Stealing the innocence of the young is one the more vile of pure evils.

CBS is reporting shrieking in Epstein’s cell a couple hours before he was found dead in his cell.

That’s a word right wing men can’t seem to wrap their heads around in the least.

From the NYT article:

It seemed clear Mr. Epstein had embellished his role in the Tesla situation to enhance his own importance and gain attention — something that now seems to have been a pattern.

In other words, Epstein was a pathological liar just like his friend, child rapist Toadglans der Hamberdlar.

Thanks for saying it, seamus42, so I didn’t have to.

At the risk of ‘putting too fine a point on it’, I’d observe that this bit of projection helps solidify my working hypothesis that conservatives/Republican’ts (pretend to?) have little-to-no understanding of the concept of consent–beyond their own.

So in current reporting (really musing) there will be an investigation into Epstein’s finances. So somewhere in the bible, Koran, whatever holy book one follows, there has to be “When in doubt, follow the money”.

We may never know the exact number of under-age girls that Epstein provided & that Donald Trump forcibly had sex with - nor will we know the means by which their silence was obtained … was it a pay off… or were they “eliminated” (car accident, drowning, accidental drug overdose …)
… and may never know if it was more or less than the number that Putin has captured with photo and video documentation?

… what appears clear - when his “friends” do his procuring for him - the result seems younger … when he forages on his own (Stormy) he ends up in an older demographic group …

Deets = “Details”? Saves two letters? Like abbreviating “Utah”.

Gee I have a faint echo in my memory somewhere.

Apparently.

“Pitiful” may be the word you’re looking for.

at times in history it was perfectly acceptable

At “times in history” a lot of things were acceptable. Torture, slavery, burning at the stake. Things that are now determined to be in conflict with currently accepted ideas of moral behavior.

I read that story last night and concluded that the guy should have taken the book deal. It wouldn’t have amounted to much, but, boy, what a sequel he could write now. This, in contrast, was thin gruel.

Adding that young teens are really not mature enough to make this decision, so they really aren’t capable of consenting as they don’t really know what they are consenting to, particularly if they are being “groomed.”
