NYT: Giuliani Is A Target In Fulton County Probe - TPM – Talking Points Memo

Whatever it is, he applied too much of it. Always remember: a little dab will do you.

“the DA’s office countered that Giuliani had flown to Europe in recent weeks, on tickets paid for in cash.”

Has this actually been confirmed? I’d love to see him sent to Gitmo for life, but previous news reports merely stated that the tickets had been purchased, and his attorneys said they weren’t purchased by him.

Okay, but who will be named America’s Top Convict?

In the federal grand jury proceedings, “target” basically means we’re fixing to indict you, but you’re still welcome to try and talk us out of it. “Suspect” means something like “We’ve decided a crime probably occurred and you’re likely on the hook for it.” Being a “witness” means they don’t think you’ve done any crimes, but you may have pertinent information about them.

As I understand it, Georgia grand juries don’t use the same terminology, but Fanni Willis is using it here so nobody gets to whine after testifying that they didn’t know they were being investigated for the crimes.

Sad, just sad, that “America’s Mayor” became “America’s Masturbator.”

What a jerk.

Since for understandable reasons, there is reluctance to criminally charge Donald Trump, then at least they should really throw he book on his accomplices and Rudy Giuliani is one that keeps appearing in all of Trump’s shenanigans, throw him in prison. Have Jeffrey Clark, the Cheesebro, and Eastman accompany the SOB. Kushner probably deserves the death penalty for profiting from classified material and confidential information but that would be harder to prove.

We should have a pool where we guess how many times Rudy will plead the 5th.

My guess is 911 times.

Can you please explain this to a layman? There’s another search warrant unrelated to MaL we don’t know about?

OK @danny, now you’ve gotten to something I’d pay to watch! :smirk:  :mask:

My mind is reeling, trying to imagine what the proper competitive tasks would be…

Time to pull out the ol’ “I see what you did there…”

There are approximately a million search warrants unrelated to Trump. This is one of them.

Prosecutors on Monday told Bill Thomas, a Georgia attorney for Giuliani, that Giuliani was considered a target, Costello told TPM. Giuliani is scheduled to appear before the investigation’s grand jury on Monday.

Well, that’ll sure get him to show up to court! If he continues to defy his subpoena, that then makes him a fugitive! If he does show up, then he could end up being arrested. Either way, he’s hosed!

That would be sweet, but Rudy is so thoroughly unreliable that prosecutors would have a very hard time using him as a witness. But he still probably knows where a lot of bodies are buried.

In federal law, target means: “a person as to whom the prosecutor or the grand jury has substantial evidence linking him or her to the commission of a crime and who, in the judgment of the prosecutor, is a putative defendant.” (Justice Manual 9-11.151)

The nicest part of that definition, in this case, is “the grand jury has substantial evidence.”

Warms my heart…

ETA: I meant to add that I don’t know the precise definition under Georgia law. It could be different, but my guess is that it is very similar.

So, when do we find out if TFG’s a target?

Or is that just a given?

As the shoe polish drips…

No. It is specifically exempt.
