NYT: DOJ Now Investigating Trump Stashing Classified Docs At Mar-A-Lago

A Justice Department investigation into ex-President Donald Trump and White House staffers’ handling of 15 boxes of classified documents that were taken to Trump’s Mar-A-Lago resort in Florida at the end of his presidency is now reportedly underway.

Of course, TFG took them on purpose. 1. for leverage 2. for sale.

Sort of OT:

I sincerely want to thank @txlawyer for reminding me that the legal process doesn’t proceed at the pace of a Law & Order episode.

Curious if any of the documents are missing.

Coincidentally, just yesteray the head of the National Archives announced his retirement after 12 years, saying among other things it was important the position be filled in a responsible manner:

“It’s important to me, that this administration replace me,” he said. “I’m concerned about what’s going to happen in 2024. I don’t want it left to … the unknowns of the presidential election.”

But… the more interesting and relevant tidbit is what he said about the boxes that went to Merde au Lac:

“I can remember watching the Trumps leaving the White House and getting off in the helicopter that day, and someone carrying a white banker box, and saying to myself, ‘What the hell’s in that box?’” he said.

“That began a whole process of trying to determine” whether any records had not been turned over to the Archives, he said.

Asked if he eventually got all those records, he said: “Don’t know. https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/2022/05/11/archives-retires-jan-6-ferriero-mob/

It’s no wonder all the Trump’s think they’re royalty when no matter where they go, they hear throngs of people yelling out “Count D’Silverware!”

Yawn.

He’ll skate again. He always skates, figuratively speaking of course.

Just like with the missing cell phones, any incriminating evidence will lost. There is a clear pattern emerging, (not that it wasn’t obvious to begin with) one that shows intent.

The days of Teflon Don may soon be coming to an end.

Off Topic, there is another “sky is falling” Prime article telling us how “Trump’s 2020 Coup Failures Could be 2024 Successes” I don’t believe this for an instant. It’s a clickbait article and all it does is suppress turnout, can we please just focus on 2022? We can worry about 2024 after the midterms.

Did they count the rolls of TP when TFG left?

I can imagine him taking those.

Are you saying that @txlawyer is not Jack McCoy?

About time! And will there be a raid to see if yet more boxes of Top Secret are secreted away (heh) at the loser’s resort home? And if so, why not?

And silverware. But don’t bother looking for dignity. They wouldn’t have recognized if it were sitting right in front of them.

Hmm. Maybe he took paper towels too.

J6 is easily the largest DOJ investigation since 9/11, and maybe even bigger because there are so many moving parts. And you’ve got to make sure the cases against anyone at or near the top of the chain are 100% airtight, because losing them at trial would be disastrous on the level of Tim McVeigh walking free. So it’s gigantic and they need to be exhaustively thorough. Both take time.

That said, I think they’re also aware that there are practical restraints on how long they can wait on bringing charges against Fat Donnie. I think it will come, if it comes at all, after the midterms but before 2024.
