The New York Times rebuked one of its staffers, deputy Washington editor Jonathan Weisman, on Thursday after he posted several problematic tweets that many saw as racist over the past week.
Not surprising considering how much that paper bends over backwards to engage in false equivalency or just outright pander to racists. They were so not ready for the current political environment
“Weisman first came under fire last week when he tweeted that Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) weren’t truly from the Midwest and Reps. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) and John Lewis (D-GA) weren’t truly from the Deep South because all four reps come from metropolitan cities.”
Clearly, John Lewis doesn’t know anything about the “Deep South”.
From the proud paper that brought us Whitewater. A decent editorial section, but their news editors and writers generally lack all proportion and judgment.
This reminds me of the time I participated in a Shalom Minneapolis event, which welcomes newcomers to the area. I was asked which congregation I might be thinking of joining. Never having belonged to one before, I said “Er … Reform?” The response was “Oh well, you’re not really Jewish.”
