This is heartbreaking. It was clear during the worst of it that NYC was overwhelmed with cases and this staggering loss of life.

And how many deaths were the result of this country not being prepared at the National level? Where was the leadership? Intelligence agencies were reporting what was happening in China and Europe, so was the Press. The President, Vice President, and their Administration need to be held responsible. Their decisions to politicize the pandemic, to prevent preparations from being made, to preclude the organization of a scientifically and medically sound response, to not have anticipated the social issues and to work to minimize, prevent and deal with the consequences, are simply staggering. And we are now paying the price for their ignoring the Pandemic Handbook; but then again, since it has too many pages, not enough pictures, and wasn’t covered by FOX News (what an oxymoron), our current President can’t be expected to understand it. Stay safe and vote in the next National election.

A vast majority of deaths were because Trump prevented federal agencies and his own appointed advisers from treating it like the emergency they knew it was in late January itself.

If we had started testing by then, NYC would have been able to prevent the rapid spread. Unfortunately, NYC didn’t even know it had a massive COVID issue until it was already baked in.

Further, not using the defense powers act to produce more PPE and ventilators and medicines almost certainly killed thousands of additional people in NYC itself unnecessarily.

I suspect we will also find that the hasty European travel ban, which was announced before LGA, JFK and EWR were prepared to receive COVID infected passengers from Europe, led to hundreds of super spreader events each day in each of these airports as each flight was filled with hundreds of people returning from Europe who were then crammed into small waiting areas spreading COVID to each other and airport staff.

That’s more than 35,000 deaths in excess of the average set by the previous two years.

So, twelve 9/11s. Somebody tell ghoulsie.

I truly hope the next AG assigns a US attorney to investigate all of the malpractice by the Trump Administration. These criminals really need to go to jail.

Agree, but reframe away from the presidency and focus on Trump the individual: Trump the clear and present danger must step down!

Jared should certainly be required to explain to an appropriately empowered investigation how he figured tax payer dollars paid for “our PPE,” and how that perception of ownership influenced decisions about that PPE’s distribution.

As someone who resides just blocks away from Elmhurst hospital I can tell it was awful since the ambulance sirens were hourly in April and May and the morgue trailers were parked out front. I would also read in the local news and neighborhood blogs about people who succumbed to Coronavirus.
Time for # Jared’s victims.

Nah, Andrew Johnson managed to retroactively lose the Civil War. Drumpf can’t lay a finger on that.

You sure? Trump’s managed to make the Confederacy uncool, which may finally lead to the end of the Civil War that never actually ended.

We can all agree Trump is the worst President since 1900.
