NEW YORK (AP) — New York City is shutting down its subway system each day from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. to increase cleaning of trains and stations during the coronavirus crisis, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Thursday.

Probably should have done it earlier. But figuring out how to do it without leaving anyone stuck for transport overnight must have been interesting.

This is probably going to become Standard Operating Procedure for subways, buses, taxis, limo services, airlines, trains and, dare I say it, cruise lines. (That last entry is only a maybe…I just can’t see how cruise lines will survive this.)

Yes, enormously difficult figuring out the scheduling but, my goodness, three days of use before the next disinfecting? A veritable Petri dish of covid-trafficing.
