Well, there is the crossing at Sault Ste. Marie from the Michigan UP, but then you’d have to pass through a border check. However, if you’d experienced the arctic polar vortex we had a few years back, you probably could’ve crossed Lake Superior in a bunch of places. The lake completely froze over. Lake Michigan, too. So much ice that the Milwaukee Air and Boat show held the following spring was called off due to an intense never-ending fog which was due to extremely cold lake water.

I’d like someone to ask Dr. Fauci — the next time he can be on a show I can watch… lol — what happened to the flu this year? I heard the incidence went way down. If that’s true, what… ?

Assuming you mean that it froze over, too, not that you could cross to Canada. I’m not quite sure where everyone is from and some don’t realize Lake Michigan is the only Great Lake that doesn’t border on Canada. But as far as froze over? Yeah, it sure did. That was a brutal winter.
I will say when Superior is freezing over around Mackinac Island, they get that stunning blue ice. Yes, the ice looks blue, like something out of Frozen.

Ice and water absorb the red spectrum more quickly during penetration than the blue spectrum. What makes ice appear to be blue instead of white or foggy is the absence of air bubbles in the ice. The air bubbles act like lenses that cause light to scatter much like light scatters in the fog due to water droplets suspended in the air acting like spherical lenses. Glacier ice tends to be blue in color because it has been compressed under a great deal of mass, and that squeezes what air bubbles are in the ice into much smaller bubble volumes. For whatever reason, it looks like the ice around Mackinac Island doesn’t have many air bubbles in it. Either that, or somebody’s playing with color filters. But it sure does look pretty.

Everybody was wearing masks and social distancing and staying home; I believe I read a statistic that less than 100 people died from the flu, we just did not have a flu season this year.

My daughter lives in Brooklyn. She got Covid at the end March 2020. She got through it, but she thought she was dying. Because of all that was happening in NYC back then, she also wasn’t sick enough to be hospitalized. It was a scary time. As of about four weeks ago, she is now completely vaccinated. Yay!!
She was telling me last week that she wishes Americans would adopt the practice of wearing facemasks whenever they are sick (cold, flu, etc.)…even after this current pandemic subsides. Wearing facemasks basically stopped this past winter’s flu season, and that’s a great thing! Just think about the impact of wearing a facemask when one is sick would have on future flu and cold seasons.

Northern Minnesota is a better bet. The Boundary Waters National Canoe Area goes right up to the border.
Portaging a canoe is hard work, though. I don’t think many of the defendants I’ve seen mugshots of look up to it.

Not the first shot, but she was sick for about a day or two after the second shot. That’s what I experienced too.
She got Pfizer in Brooklyn. I got Moderna here in central PA.

Set aside the snark (which gave me a chuckle), the fact that a State action would prevent any future Republican presidential pardon came to mind for me too.
But maybe it is just a matter of timing. We are only just over 100 days with the Biden administration and a yet to be fully staffed, non-Trumpster fire DOJ.
