Donald Trump received his target letter from Special Counsel Jack Smith in the Mar-a-Lago case way back on May 19. The very next day, Trump went on a very specific Truth Social rant spree.
Trump qua MAGA/Q is an Id Monster conjured from our nation’s lizard hindbrain and nothing about this has changed. Be nice to believe that enough of those willing to give this a pass before are now awake enough to reject it this time around.
ETA: After a couple exposures I avoided listening to Trump’s speeches: they were a tossed word salad, stream of consciousness with no external logic, and yet the audiences were rapt and it was then I realized they didn’t really see or hear him at all: he was a totem, a cracked container for every fear, bigotry, or resentment they entertained, and what made him truly fearful was not what he was or what he might do but what he legitimized and permitted.
He’s staring down dozens of counts in a federal indictment and potentially spending the rest of his natural life in prison — all because he actually believed all his own spin and lies about Hillary’s emails, thinking that gave him license to steal government secrets and then lie to a grand jury and the FBI about it. Which, it should be noted, is not what Hillary did.
Trump’s arrogance, incompetence, and callous disregard for our national security are enraging. Even more enraging is that the entire Republican party and 30% of voters stand foursquare behind this malignant, criminal sociopath. What the fuck is wrong with people?
His entire life is one youuuge rant. After suffering through eight years of his yip yap most of us have reached the point of being immunized against it.
It really does seem is certain voters are suffering from some sort of religious mania. But that doesn’t excuse the members of Congress and their actions.
"The GOP has attracted to its base the hitherto apolitical and disregarded: rednecks living off the grid, armed-to-the-teeth survivalists, psychopathic grifters and con artists (who may have been attracted by Trump’s transparently crooked fundraising), violent criminals, the borderline psychotic, incels living in their mothers’ basements, hitherto tiny political extremist groups.
“In better times, these disparate groups of antisocial lunatics were institutionalized, socially marginalized or physically isolated from each other. The GOP’s vast media-entertainment complex has given them a cause, mobilized them and made them march in unison. One may think there aren’t enough of the people I have described to constitute a mass movement. But there are certainly millions of them in a country of a third of a billion, and their presence in a major political party works as a kind of psychological Gresham’s Law, resulting in the worst elements driving out the good.”
I think evidence will show that Donnie was adding classified docs to the boxes of mementoes he used to camouflage (and excuse) them for years, certainly from well before the first impeachment got underway.
And, a lot of them were serious NDI, not at all the product of the ‘witch hunts’ that his team has put it out there he was intent on contradicting.
What he wanted with such docs, of course, is still an open question.
In his usual exclamation point and caps lock-heavy style, Trump denounced the indictment Friday as a “WITCH HUNT,” insisting that the boxes were full of innocuous newspapers and photos rather than classified material.
Since MAGA is so concerned with gender identities, shouldn’t it be a “WARLOCK HUNT”?
Just asking.
Fear. Rage. Sociopathy. An unquenchable thirst for endless revenge against The Other. A fragile ego that must crush any assertion that they are wrong about anything ever.
Basically, men suffering from toxic masculinity, and all the misogynistic self-loathing women who love them.
