NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — With federal officials having identified the man believed to be behind Nashville’s Christmas Day bombing, authorities now turn to the monumental task of piecing together the motive behind the explosion that severely damaged dozens of downtown buildings and injured three people.
He was obviously mentally ill an it doesn’t sound like he communicated much with anyone. He also signed his houses over to a young woman in California who claims she doesn’t know him. Maybe he bought into the new 5G networks tapping into your brain using receivers that are being put into the vaccine. He should have just worn a tinfoil hat for protection and left the explosives alone. I doubt we will ever know his motive and knowing it would still leave us asking WTF?
The NY Post is reporting that the suicide bomber was a 5G conspiracy theorist, which puts him on the Q’anon radar. We will learn more in time, but the media’s unwillingness to call this guy a suicide bomber or terrorist underscores the racial bias on matters of crime and national security.
Then, for reasons that may never be known, the audio switched to a recording of Petula Clark’s 1964 hit “Downtown”

the countdown and the music – it all sounds like something a comic book/movie villain would do. My guess: incel, not super political but probably MAGAt-adjacent, obsessed with 5G and other crazy shit.
And we all thought irony was dead.
Fortunately the bomber will not be around to muddy whatever explanation the Feds come up with.

He’s left clues everywhere and I do not for a second believe he was mentally ill. This was terrorism - which could be considered insane except for the deliberate decision to do harm outside one’s own radius.
Seems to me that the focus is turning, once again, to dismissing mass violence committed by white middle-aged men into the actions of a lone wolf rather than terrorism created by right-wing media.
Today or tomorrow we’ll hear some Republican Senator or Representative say he was crazy rather than a political terrorist who was radicalized by decades spent listening to Limbaugh and Fox News.
At least it wasn’t the (arguably beter) B-52’s cover of “Downtown”.
I’m still holding out for the theory that he had a vendetta against the Melting Pot fondue restaurant after he severely burned his mouth on some hot cheese.

He seemingly had a grudge against AT&T, given the efforts taken to avoid human casualties. Seemed to be targeting infrastructure.
The 5G angle looks like a likely trail to follow.
When I heard about the song “Downtown”, my immediate thought was that episode of Seinfeld where George didn’t pay attention to his boss’ instructions and listened to the song “Downtown” to get a clue what he is supposed to do. Perhaps, he was a fan of the show that thought the addition of the song would be some sick joke.
BTW, I live about 10 miles from downtown Nashville, and the explosion shook my house and woke me up. My assumption was a tree fell on our property. I walked around the property to look for the fallen tree and didn’t find out about the explosion until we were done unwrapping presents.
