No Looksies! John Eastman Upset Jan. 6 Committee Perused The Emails He Gave Them

In a Sunday filing, former Donald Trump attorney John Eastman — one of the key architects of Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election — disclosed that he complied with a federal district judge’s order and provided the Jan. 6 Committee with a dropbox link that contained the eight emails he has been refusing to share.

People like Eastman are just proof of something I realised awhile back when one of the most educated (former) friends I have (had) tried shoveling a load of anti-vaxxer bullshit at me: Getting more education and piling up advanced degrees often means no more than that they’re able construct more elaborate justifications for the bullshit they’ve chosen to believe.

Oh, uh, first. and no pet pics.

Eastman reasons that if it works for Trump’s tax returns, it should works for the emails he wrote Trump spitballing voter fraud b.s.

Yeah well clearly John Robert’s head is up the Turnip’s ass, but I don’t think Eastman enjoys the same “extension” of regard, if you get my meaning.

Mr. Eastman, please stop, please. Your story is soooo sad. You’re breaking my heart.

Stating the obvious. In the posture of the case the Committee has every right to look at and use Eastman’s emails. They were under no obligation to wait because Eastman told them he intended to file an appeal (Indeed, IIRC, he lied and said there was an appeal pending before he had in fact filled) and hoped both for a stay and to prevail in the appeal.

Seeking delay he filed a motion for reconsideration with no realistic prospects of success and compounded his error by filing his appeal at the last possible moment. Cutting his timing this fine deprived him of the chance of receiving a stay in time to block the committee’s access. He has only himself to blame for the timing.

“How DARE you look at legally-obtained evidence that I personally gave you!!!”

(Those investigators sure have some nerve.)

I kind of like watching him squirm. But he does turn my stomach.

So, if I understand this, Eastman provided the emails pursuant to a court order that did not bar the J6 Committee from immediately reading the emails, and he decided to try to impose his own extra-judicial restriction that the Committee refrain from doing anything with them. Now he’s whining that the Committee acted in accordance with the District Court’s order (the court could have stayed its own order pending an appeal), and not in accordance with Eastman’s wishes.

I don’t think his whining is going to have any effect here.

The House select committee went right ahead and looked anyway.

I would award a medal on the spot to those members.

the entire “system” has to stop continuing to look at John Eastman as a credible & legitimate participant in the process - he is unhinged / deranged - and is irretrievably fixated on doing convoluted things to distract & to waste time & to relentlessly rehash stuff that he has already been told is done - settled - finished … he has forfeited the privilege of being viewed as a “good faith actor” - he is not - he is an incorrigible willful obstructionist bent upon constipating the investigative & prosecutorial process.

John Eastman and his ilk should heed Will Rogers’ advice:

“Never miss a good chance to shut up.” ― Will Rogers

Makes you wonder if he knows what that word actually means.

From her bio:

She double majored in African American studies and Neuroscience at Northwestern University

:astonished:

Not exactly a lot of overlap between those two fields of study.

where she also competed on the varsity fencing team.

I will remember to be very polite.

Hurry up and publish the damn things in their entirety before the prick has a chance to say or do anything. For the life of me I don’t why we keep granting this particular class of white criminals these grace periods, for their criminal friends in the illegitimate judiciary to run out the clock past whatever next election it takes.
