After spending months amplifying former President Donald Trump’s false claims of a stolen election, Newsmax finally issued a statement on Friday that acknowledged there was “no evidence” to support claims promoted on its air that Dominion Voting Systems and one of its top employees, Eric Coomer, manipulated election results in 2020.
Just goes to show that Newsmax is not a news organization, same could be said about Fox. And not that I watch Fox, but it is right next to MSNC on my cable system so I do see what they are talking about. I can’t remember ever seeing a Fox News reporter on any of their evening shows talking to Hannity, Carlson, or Ingram.
OK, now devote five prime time hours per day for six months, hammering home the facts on this subject, for a change. Then maybe we have something.
ETA: and the harm is not just to Dominion, but to the nation.
On the advice of our general counsel who’s sitting next to me with a revolver pointed at my skull I want to say clearly that I’ll make literally any statement that will make this go away.

Every hour, on the hour posted and read on air might come close to doing their duty. I hope he took them for everything, if not Dominion will take care of what is left. Sue these creatures out of existence.
This is what I expect from all the Dominion defendants. Undisclosed settlement with a public apology months too late to effect the cult.

We must remember this is one of many “little” suits filed. The big boys (Dominion) have sworn not to settle and to go to court. That will be the final cut to put them out of business. Dominion isn’t going quietly.
I agree, but I hope the settlements become public too. We have a need to know just how big and malicious the lie was.
This was clearly not a “little white lie” or a simple misunderstanding. The “big lie” borders on sedition, because of its pernicious impact on the electorate’s faith in our democracy. When 70% of the GOP STILL believes the election was “hinky” and Biden is illegitimate, we’ve got a huge problem.
It would be rather poetic if the settlement was $7,060,347, which is the number of votes that Biden won over Trump.

So we reported them over and over until someone conclusively proved them false.
I sincerely hope the plaintiffs are serious about not settling with these clowns. Grave harm was done to Dr. Coomer, his business, his family, and our country. And I have no doubt it was done knowingly. I also have zero doubt that there are emails, texts, and other exchanges that reflect the fact that they knew exactly what they were doing. I think it’s imperative for our country that at least some of these cases are adjudicated in a court of law.
Yes. Unless we require networks to spend us much time correcting their grievous lies (and in the same time slots) as they did in promoting their fabrications, it will become a concerted strategy for these right wing propaganda outlets. In fact, it already has. Whatever fine they paid is probably chump change compared to the viewership they had watching them promote the “big lie”.
And naming an individual publicly, without basis or factual evidence, is beyond despicable, bordering on incitement imo.
If we’re into poetry and all, I prefer $81,282,916 as the fine. Biden’s vote total, and all hard-fought and won legitimately.
Just remember that the liar who runs Newsmax is Christopher Ruddy the same liar who ran Richard Mellon Scaife’s Arkansas Project to kneecap the Clintons. Ruddy endlessly pushed the lie that the Clintons ran a cocaine ring out of Mena, Arkansas. He also endlessly pushed the lie that Hillary killed Vince Foster. Oh and his crowning achievement working with the liars at the New York Times to fabricate the Whitewater BS.

Yes, and I imagine there are a fair amount of Democrats and independents that have “questions”. Maybe they don’t question whether Biden won, but question whether the election was fair. Hell, even I have questions. Also, putting the Big Lie to rest would also eliminate any excuse at all for these new voter suppression efforts.
