President Trump’s desperation to convince Georgia election officials to reverse the state’s election result was made clear in a newly surfaced recording of a call Trump had with a top elections investigators in the state.
Trump told Watson that if he wasn’t declared the winner in Georgia, the two Republicans who were up for a run-off the next month were likely to lose their seats in the U.S. Senate.
This sounds like a threat from Trump to his fellow Republicans. That if he goes down, he takes the Republican Senate down with him. What an all-around great guy and awesome leader!
“When the right answer comes out, you’ll be praised.”
Fair enough.
Meanwhile, Watson said little more than how much she appreciated him and his call. She had to say it a few times because it’s all she could say each time he paused.
That’s two incidents where Trump pressured lawmakers to change the election outcome - under Geogria state law, that now becomes a RICO offense (i.e. a pattern of criminal activity) and adds up to 20 years to the sentencing. Trump’s not going to like that.
Has Trump been able to line up any attorneys for his coming trials? Who are the suckers willing to work for him? Actions having consequences never rang more true.
Also notable is that, within his thoroughly inappropriate framework, he was perfectly lucid and in command of his bizarre but necessary assertions.
Same as in the Raffensperger call a few days later, although in that case the deadline was closer at hand so, having become more desperate, he was also more careless about his phrasing.

If you don’t help me out here, see, your Senators, they’re gonna swim with the fishes.
