WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — The raggedy hairstyles and scruffy beards have been there for all to see on video calls, so barber Conrad Fitz-Gerald decided to reopen his shop at midnight Wednesday — the moment New Zealand dropped most of its lockdown restrictions as the nation prepared itself for a new normal.
“New Zealand is about to enter a very tough winter,” she said. “But every winter eventually is followed by spring, and if we make the right choices we can get New Zealanders back to work and our economy moving quickly again.”
Jeeze, for a moment I was tempted. How much does it cost to fly there? A few thousand bucks? Because I really, really need a haircut. We need robot hair stylists right now.
ETA saw a flight for just over twelve hundred bucks! So worth it!
ETA robot hair stylists are being developed right now. Panasonic has one. For all I know it’s a menu item in one of my Panny cameras.
Everyone I know who has visited New Zealand has fallen in love with it. Am considering emigrating there is things go south in 2020.
Alas, I belong to a job category that they do not consider desirable. How I wish Mr. Crow had become a dentist.
Sounds like the voice of experience. You’ve done this defrauding of international Immigration and Customs officials thing a time or two before? (I can get you more plum overseas assignments with @castor_troy, you know.)
I only go on missions when one of you gets in trouble in the field. You know I’m just a simple file clerk, so dull, nothing really. A few phone calls here and there, sorting out the paperwork intra-office, that sort of thing. @castor_troy is more effective with a partner who can stand up to his late nights.
This is an opportunity I unfortunately can’t avail myself of. My wife and daughter cut my hair so badly the other day that I daren’t set foot in a barbers until its grown out.
Just been for a walk through the city (Aucklander here) and the only lines we saw were outside the hairdressers and the place that sells Japanese cheesecake! I’ll raise my beverage in the direction of the US tonight and hope for your sakes you will have the same hair/dessert related problems some time soon - cheers and Kia Kaha
I believe your fine suggestion of hair/dessert problems will only come to pass when we manage to hire new leadership in the Executive Branch of our government here in the US. Also an added bonus would be firing Mitch McConnell from his post as senior Senator from Kentucky and giving our Senate a democrat majority. Until those things happen we will suffer… terribly. Incompetence and deliberate stupidity are terrible things to live under.
Welcome to our freeform commentary sandlot.
You may have read that I have promised to do a Maori Haka performance in my driveway to the consternation of my neighbor’s yapping dogs should Mitch McConnell lose his bid for reelection to the Senate. Some here believe I also promised to film my goofy gyrations. I did no such thing. I have better manners than that.
