Don’t they teach the 5 W’s at journalism schools anymore? A one line report and that’s it?!
Jeez…
ETA: there’s more info in the photo caption than the piece itself.
NEW YORK, UNITED STATES - APRIL 24, 2020: Two medical workers transport an elderly man from the Cobble Hill nursing home in Brooklyn to a nearby hospital amid the coronavirus crisis. As the US surpasses 50,000 confirmed coronavirus deaths, New York State’s antibody tests suggest that 14.9% of new yorkers are positive for Covid-19.- PHOTOGRAPH BY Braulio Jatar / Echoes Wire/ Barcroft Studios / Future Publishing (Photo credit should read Braulio Jatar / Echoes Wire/Barcroft Media via Getty Images)
I’m beginning to question the competence of state and local authorities, who’ve allowed this to happen. Their daily briefings are more useful and reassuring than Trump’s daily virtual MAGA rallies, but what are they actually DOING to save lives?
I see cops in cars everywhere, but they rarely get out to enforce mask use and social distancing, and when they do, they don’t wear masks themselves. Who hired and directs these morons?
This is a photo from the NY state Dept of Health site showing how subways are disinfected:
Notice how a mask-wearing Cuomo is standing next to a subway worker improperly wearing two forms of PPE, rendering it useless, while disinfecting a subway car. How was this even allowed to be posted?
And this was from 2 weeks ago, too.
NY is disclosing this information and reporting the death tolls everyday. We have seen many reports that many states are not reporting deaths in their states (see Florida). We will see in a few months of thousands of additional deaths from Covid-19.

This is one of the arguments I’m seeing from the minions:
It’s happening in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. It’s not happening out in the open air where we all live. Why should we be locked down because nursing homes are the hotbeds?
I’ve seen this argument frequently, along with the small percentages of the total population argument.
They are incapable of understanding that asymptomatic carriers infect employees of nursing homes or visitors to nursing homes. Somehow the virus was transmitted from a recently returned Wuhan visitor who lived in Everett, WA to a nursing home in Kirkland, WA which is in a different county 20-25 minutes away. The virus walked in on two feet.
I was sent this tweet from a friend. Thank you for letting me know it was a fake.
I don’t blame you. The crap that comes daily out of Trump’s mouth and his little stubby fingers makes pretty much anything you see online believable.
Covid-19 is particularly deadly to the elderly and those with various conditions (obesity, etc.). It also kills younger people without such conditions, just not at the same rate.
In retrospect, complete isolation (i.e, having the staff living in the facilities) probably would have lowered the death toll.
In 2009 as witnessed by his Twitter history he actually liked Obama and praised his selection of Hillary as Secretary of State.
In my populous, suburban “ring county” outside Philly, we’ve had a fair number of cases and deaths. The percentage of deaths in nursing homes has consistently been in the mid- to high eighties.
