New York Officials React To Anti-Semitic Stabbing Attack

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) denounced a stabbing attack at the house of a rabbi in Monsey on Saturday, the latest in a string of anti-Semitic incidents in the area.

Well, we know one thing – Trump did not actually write that tweet:

  1. It’s not unhinged enough to be his work, and it doesn’t contain gratuitous references to Pelosi;
  2. He was too busy to write: he was receiving his end of year performance review from Putin, who threw him the bone of saying Trump was instrumental in thwarting a terrorist attack on St. Petersburg. Nicely calculated to divert us from the fact that Trump is the single biggest factor in the rise of stochastic terrorism in the US.

As Twitter and other social media platforms are too easy to use, why would Trump want to, maybe, go on the TV and address the American public on the elevation in hate crimes since he became president? Too much trouble? Doesn’t want to upset his white nationalist supporters?

“Melania and I wish the victims a quick and full recovery.”

That’s a far cry from “I really don’t care. Do u?”

  1. “Scourge” is not a word he would ever think of, much less spell correctly.
    3a. Same for “Melania”.

Disturbing, along with all of the anti-immigrant and anti-Muslin rhetoric, but not surprising. The day after the election in 2016, I signed up for monthly contributions to the Southern Poverty Law Center. (And OT but also Planned Parenthood)

When the analyzers, prognosticators, and crystal gazers all sum up Trump’s administration this one act by FLOTUS will surely be counted in the top 5 moments as an example of the Trump maladministration. This one message that Lady Mel was trying to convey totally backfired, not that anyone will hear a mea culpa from anyone named Trump.

If Democrats were smart (vain wish) they’d be saying something like, “How come the president of the United States is too busy helping Putin and the FSB do their jobs to do anything about right-wing terrorism in the United States?”

And Democrats on the Intel Committees should immediately be demanding a briefing on what role our intelligence agencies (you, know, the ones Trump publicly loathes and disdains) played in stopping the alleged St. Petersburg incident.

I know, I know, it’s underhanded to turn terrorism into a political football. But you don’t play patticake with a traitor who is doing everything in his power to subvert the Constitution.

If memory serves, one of the few times he addressed the country was before he was pres and clearly was pressured into explaining the grabbing the ***** remark. He hated every minute of it, was not apologetic, just barreled his way through, and then we all moved on to what was really important, HRC’s emails.

To whom do you want them to say this to and in which medium. Everything out there says Democrats have the public’s support, understand that trumPP is a a right wing sympathizer. Maybe the DOJ could undertake such an effort because it is after all related to terrorism and national security. But then we’d need a new AG who’s not a partisan hack. The Intel Committees if they were to undertake an investigation would also need help from the same political hack who impedes everything else which would make his boy look bad.

So wishful thinking and no criticism about Rs who stand silently by and the onus is put on Democrats “TO DO SOMETHING!!!”

When I saw the headline: NY Officials React to Anti-Semitic Stabbing Attack, I just knew that they were going to be against it.

In no way do I mean to imply that Republicans are not the villains of this piece; they’re utterly despicable. But many Democrats are so busy being “reasonable” that they don’t understand what gets ink and electrons these days: it’s saying pointed and provocative things to get the media’s (and the public’s) attention. That’s why the media has over the years consistently quoted Republicans more often than Democrats (part of the reason, anyway; the other part is that conservative conventional wisdom has taken up residence in the heads of executive editors and publishers).

To wit: Biden could have said something pointed and provocative about being subpoenaed as a witness in the Senate: “Sure, I’ll voluntarily testify, you won’t have to subpoena me they way you need to do with administration witnesses. But boy, Republicans better be careful what they wish for if they give me a platform with a 100% TV audience share. They’ll rue the day.” And Senate Repubs probably would rethink it if Biden had made a comeback like that

And so on. Instead, Biden muddled the entire congressional Democratic argument that no one is above the law and that Trump administration figures must comply with a valid subpoena. Then he went one better by backtracking in a confused fashion.

I’m not saying the Democrats aren’t the good guys. But we need more Churchills and fewer Neville Chamberlains.

According to reporting at the time the daughter wife Ivanka was upset with him to the point of crying when she urged him to do the apology video. You know that he wasn’t comfortable with it considering it to be a hostage video.

Biden’s messaging and responses need lots of improvement. So far he’s coasting on good will generated by having been Veep to the one we still love and admire, but we can’t depend on Joe for pithy, hard hitting pushback. It’s hard to say who that figure might be, however.

It’s obvious he didn’t want to do it, he never apologizes, never retracts terrible things he says, so this nearly killed him. I seem to remember that a now retired R House member whose name I forget was apoplectic, “What am I supposed to say to my daughter!?” but he went into hiding after that.

I think it was Jason Chavitz from Utah who feigned concern. Now it’s like he never said it and regularly defends Trump as a pundit on Fox.
Apparently there were others at the time like Paul Ryan who wanted Trump removed from the ticket so they could have full on supply side Jesus.

Yes, it was Chaffetz who briefly dipped his toe in the bravery pool then quickly withdrew it.
