New Supreme Court Term Will Go All In On Anti-Trans Panic

Will this SC deliver a decision ( or sets of decisions) that not only are adverse to Transsexuals & others … and deny them specific protection from discrimination …

But will they further craft their desision(s) in such a way that this class of individuals effectively ends up in a position of having lost all protection of traditional civil rights?

On the face of it, this would seem absurd - but do not underestimate the level of absolute hatred that the anti-trans, anti-queer, anti- non binary … that exist in the engines of hostility that are propelling all of this forward.

There are ideological agenda driven zealots on the SC who are eager to do a running cannonball into the bubbling cauldron of toxic hate and strident ultra-conservative religious dogma. So, gross injustice in the name of polarizing & dictatorial narrow theology is A-OK with them - in fact if they impose this upon this nation … they will waltz about believing that they must certainly have pleased their God & secured their place in heaven.

The Quakers were tied to wagon wheeels and whipped between towns all over New England. Protestantism blew the doors off inventing shit, starting with the Old Testament.

Yeppers. People don’t understand that the reason we have religious freedom (such as it is) in this country is religious intolerance in the Colonies.

And these asshole Christian Nationalists are going to drive us right back to that era.

As Upton Sinclair said, when Fascism comes to this country it will be wrapped in the flag and carry a Bible.

WTF is it about trans people, and the whole concept of transsexual-ness that so profoundly freaks out right-wingers? I just don’t get it.

Lawyers for Chiles argue that the ban infringes on her speech rights, and should thus be reviewed under strict scrutiny, the hardest level for a law to survive. Colorado counters that it’s not pure speech, but professional — medical — conduct, which the state has always had the right to regulate.

Treating medical practice as protected free speech, especially now at a moment when the top federal health positions are occupied by kooks and quacks, has the potential to be outright catastrophic. I’m just a legal layperson, but it seems to me that it would be the end of any meaningful regulatory oversight of medicine in this country.

Somebody please tell me I’m wrong.

If someone were to stand up, speak out, and take the lead, they might get a large number of followers. This is a golden opportunity for Democrats. And yet, the leadership in DC is all over 90 and feels one must never rock the boat.

Because Biden decided he was immortal and indispensible. The Democrats could have had real primaries and a healthy, vibrant, inspirational candidate with time for a fully developed campaign.

And people could of not been complete morons and voted for the obvious choice.

is it just the male to female transition they find so utterly horrifying? That a MAN would want to be such a vile thing as a WOMAN?? I mean misogyny is the hallmark of Project 2024 from beginning to end, but this crazed reaction is baffling if it isn’t a fear of the feminine–especially any feminine traits in a “REAL MAN”?

Biden old, price of eggs, Gaza, black woman. And giving the green light to racists sexists and morons everywhere to let their freak flag fly.
There’s no chance a putative future Dem president will be able to bring the US back - they’re not going to replace the Subprime Six or add enough justices to outvote them, and the infrastructure of government will have been smashed beyond hope of repair.

Umm, is that the correct expression?

Build it and they will come. They were out there and still are. We’ll see them and some. new faces in 2028, along with, yet again, some members of the feckless Democratic politburo. The Mamdani Experience goes national.

My concern is that the attack on the rights of transgender people is a wedge to attack the rights of women and minority groups more broadly.

In fact if you look hard at Trump base, this is exactly what they support, a regression back to the 1950s when being White and particularly a White male made you more equal than others.

What Trump’s base will get from Trump is a return to the 19th century, when there were a few superrich and most people clawed for scraps that fell from their tables.

Please use the words SPOILER ALERT (in the future) when you post the ending like you did this time.

I was just getting to appreciate the nihilism of it all. LOL

Nihilism is like assholes. Everybody’s got one (these days) I think Joni Ernst is right. “We’re all going to die”.

Ironic thing is that the poor people voted for it.

Rich people too, but there’s no denying that there are more poor people. Sometimes poor people vote. Why was Kamala not able to succeed? I thought she had a pretty good message.
