O good - Nancy appoints them all, with input from McQarthy. So - no Marjorie Taylor Greene or Lauren Boebert, I’m thinking. And no time limit either - O I do like this. Who should we grill for 11 hours?

A select committee only needs to pass through the majority-Democratic House, avoiding the same filibuster pitfall in the Senate.

GQPers are readily creating memes about the radical left wing socialists/fascist/commie/ Rosicrucianist/baby eating/Vegans who will be named to this panel. :scream:

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced that she’d create the committee on Thursday, a last resort after Senate Republicans filibustered her preferred independent, 9/11-style commission.

Another knee jerk reaction the GOP is going to regret. They really are that stupid. Go, Nancy, go.

The fat former bastard. It’s impossible for him not to perjure himself under oath.

Liz Cheney for starters.

I love this provision.

The chair of the committee, who Pelosi will appoint, will have unilateral subpoena power.

At that point, you should probably call it barbequing.

The committee will issue a final report of its findings, with interim reports “from time to time” as its work proceeds. There is no due date listed for the final report, something sure to further antagonize Republicans who previously expressed concern that such an investigation may wrap up around the 2022 midterms in an unwanted reminder to voters about the role their party played in the insurrection.

It’s a bit like the Dems offered the GOP a lollipop if they got their shot first, but they refused so now they get no lollipop and they have to get several boosters since they took too long and they didn’t stop the infection from taking hold.

I was thinking of Liz too, but Nancy can’t appoint all the Republicans that voted to impeach Trump, she’s going to have to go turning over rocks to find some Republicans that have been keeping their heads down.

They’ve known this dreaded day was coming, they’ve tried to put it off but here it is.

35 Republican members of the house for in favor of the Jan. 6 commission. There are many to choose from.

These dolts need not be appointed. Boebert, Tayor-Greene, Jordan, Gaetz, Gohmert, Nunes.

At least we won’t have to suffer with Gym Jordon, Matt Gaetz or MTG . Pelosi will pick serious people, if she can find them.

Pelosi will appoint all 13, though she’ll consult with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in choosing five of them.

Yessss! This is exactly what I wanted. She can “consult” all day long with McCarthy and then put Cheney, Kinzinger, Meijer, and a couple of other sane Republicans on the committee and call it bipartisan. Good luck explaining to the American people that it really isn’t bipartisan because Dick Cheney’s daughter is on it.

Section 4. a. 1. B. and C. may be causing a pucker factor in various locations including some seats on Capitol Hill.

Check for missing seat cushions.

He does that in 5 seconds flat. So 11 hours is kind of redundant in that respect, or at least it seems so to me.

How about Billy Barr?
