Kirk was a martyr in the manner of Horst Wessel: something for totalitarians to get sentimental over:

What didn’t you miss? New tariff on furniture to Make North Carolina Great Again. Vance unhappy. New DA in the EDVa delivered two indictments, one of which no-billed all three charges and the other two. She signed both but claimed she didn’t know where the erroneous document that she signed came from.

From the Morning Memo: “Acting U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan, with no prior experience as a prosecutor, stumbled through securing the Comey indictment, the NYT reports: “At one point, she entered the wrong courtroom. When she found the right one, she stood on the wrong side of the judge,”

“You’ll recall that Justice Brett Kavanaugh in one of the Supreme Court’s recent emergency docket rulings earlier this month condoned using apparent ethnicity and race as a factor in deciding which people to stop.“

Atrios has termed these “Kavanaugh Stops”. Seems about right.

It appears to me that no one in the Eastern District was hand-holding Miss Halligan through the indictment presentation process.

And I have NEVER learned what the grand jury vote was – both counts in this joke of an indictment got 14 votes (12 are needed). It would be nice if this indictment got thrown out at arraignment.

Still can’t get over the Klein/Coates conversation. Coates observing that the long history of the United States contains centuries of repression, and Klein arguing that all of that should be set aside in the name of political expediency is the crux of the issue for the Democratic Party. The establishment wants to abandon its support for minority groups. Many of us believe that a party that abandons its values doesn’t deserve to win. I’m pretty sure not standing for anything isn’t a winning position.

TFG telling a reporter they are “obnoxious” for asking a question should tell you all you need to know of their race and gender.
