New Minority Commerce Committee Report Details Rogue Police Force Investigating A Child, Costing Millions As Employees Watched Netflix

An internal security force at the Commerce Department went rogue for years, investigating an elementary school child, wasting millions as sidelined employees whiled the days away watching Netflix and derailing careers with frivolous investigations, according to a new report produced by Ranking Member Roger Wicker’s (R-MS) minority staff at the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

Why would Wicker publish such a report?
What is his political agenda here?
Who led the unit during the period in which the allegations took place?
What Period of time did the allegations take place?
What do Dem senate members have to say about the report?

This is what Republicans want to turn the government agencies into…the fact that more of this didn’t happen during the Trump administration is simply because the leadership of other organizations has a long history of behaving properly and following the law and being professional in their investigations. Trump really, really wanted the FBI to do this kind of stuff, it looks like they were able to corrupt a minor group that isn’t supposed to be doing this stuff into going rogue.

There should be legislation shutting this kind of thing down, we’ll see what the fallout is.

How LONG did this go on? Decades? or just the previous 4 years? THis is horrifying. Good for Wicker to find/investigate this but WHY NOW? To embarrass Biden for not finding it right away?

Your tax dollars at work. I’m quite sure this situation did not improve under the Previous Occupant.

Here’s some facts that might shed some light on it. The report covers from 2006-2021. That is, the last 2 years of Bush, 8 years of Obama, 4 years of Shitgibbon, and six months of Biden. And yet, Bush’s name isn’t mentioned at all. Trump’s name is mentioned twice, both of which refer to his hiring of John Costello but that Costello wasn’t able to clean house before he left the Administration. Left unsaid is that Costello loudly left after 1/6 which he openly said was incited by Trump. Also left unsaid? Trump’s name in reference to every single bad act between 2017 and 2021. Biden’s name is mentioned three times after only six months in office.

Obama? Nine times.

just a bit of data point acknowledgement …

  • Addison Mitchell McConnell III - Senate Majority Leader January 3, 2015 – January 20, 2021

  • Charles Ellis Schumer - Senate Majority Leader January 20, 2021 – present

  • Also Note: after weeks of negotiations, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell reached a deal Wednesday, February 3, 2021 on a power-sharing agreement for governing the upper chamber…

AND -

  • Commerce leaders from the Biden administration ordered the ITMS to halt all criminal investigations on March 10 pending an ongoing review,

and it appears the all of this essentially relates to a period of time when the Senate was in GOP hands & Commerce was headed by Trump’s stooge Walter Ross.

… Time between Democrats gaining operational control of the Senate & Biden admin slamming the brakes on investigations - 35 days … including holidays & weekends -

so the point is?

“Whistleblowers claim, for example, that agents were directed to run ethnic surnames through secure databases even in the absence of evidence suggesting potential risk to national security,

Guess that did not include supervisor George “Lee” lol.

Interesting fact ftom the WP report.

As of September, ITMS had 17 employees and a $5.38 million budget, Caplin, the department spokeswoman, said. The entire Commerce Department had 54,000 employees and a budget of $15.2 billion at the same time.

This all happened on Trumpy’s watch, right? All of these so-called investigatiors should be summarily dismissed.

I’m just glad they read my letter about whales.

At last, a story that restores my faith in little known government agencies that have the power to investigate whatever they want. Never heard of ITMS in my life.

Investigating asian-American children who want to save the world by saving the whales. During same time-frame, corrupt president’s corrupt daughter Iwanka receives bribe-oluments from the Chinese government in the form of lucrative and impossible-to-get Chinese trademarks. Yeah, that sounds like 2017 through 2020.

I think Jon Zal said it best (or at least, most recently in my memory):

Government isn’t bad; bad government is bad.

We need more “eternal vigilance” up in here.
