New Mexico Supreme Court Orders Rogue GOP Commission To Recognize Election Results

The New Mexico Supreme Court doesn’t seem convinced by the all-GOP Otero County Commission’s “just getting bad vibes, man” argument about the state’s voting machines to justify not certifying the primary election results.

Until these MAGA assholes have the shit beat out of them they’ll be back with more crap. This is a start but a damn weak one.

Keeping a close eye on this one. This is a harbinger of what’s to come in the fall and especially 2024. If the pushback is weak, we’re fucked. But if this dickhead gets hammered, it’ll hopefully put the fear of god into the rest of these halfwit fascists.

I wonder if the judge sentencing Griffin can take this into account in the sentence? Doesn’t look to me like Griffin has learned any lessons or been reformed.

So a writ of mandamus being issued means the county commission had a ministerial duty – i.e., a non-discretionary duty – to certify the primary results, and if they don’t actually comply with the order to do the thing, the court can do it for them. And then they can be held in contempt.

I’d like to believe that but these idiots don’t think any laws apply to them.

A welcome development.

Theoretically, yes. Practically, it won’t make a difference. The judge is Trevor McFadden, who is second only to Carl Nichols in his Trumpiness at Dist. D.C. His brain is mostly – but not quite entirely – melted by Fox News. He has said DOJ is being mean to the J6 defendants because they didn’t charge a bunch of BLM protesters and antifa types for “similar” conduct in 2020. He acquitted Griffin (it was a bench trial) of disorderly conduct inside the Capitol. If I had to guess at a sentence, it will be something like 30-60 days probation.

“I have huge concerns with these voting machines,” Vickie Marquardt, one of the commissioners

PFFT… And I have HUGER concerns with your commission.

In fact, New Mexico has not used “voting machines” over a decade. We use paper ballots, which are counted by “tabulating machines.” As our SoS noted, these are checked and verified before and after elections, including a hand count comparison of ballots from certain statistically selected machines.

If the Otero County commissioners are so dim and ignorant they think “voting machines” are in use … well, two out of the three are on the ballot this November.

Losers hate to lose, but they remain losers. Many look to DJT for illegal, immoral, and unethical inspiration in refusing to acknowledge loss and challenging their losses ad infinitum. They need to be TOLD by appropriate authorities that they are losers and they have lost, repeatedly if necessary. When legally necessary, they need to be locked up when their actions are found to be criminal. May it be so.

“I have huge concerns with these voting machines,” Vickie Marquardt, one of the commissioners, said on Monday. “When I certify stuff that I don’t know is right, I feel like I’m being dishonest because in my heart I don’t know if it is right.”

Where in your heart? In a valve? In an atrium? In a ventricle? In an artery? In a vein? If so, which one? Or was it in the aorta?

Which we should be getting to by next week with the deadline being tomorrow.

Contempt will take a while. Doing the county commission’s job for it would be much faster, assuming they continue to act in conformity with their oppositional defiant disorder.

So there you have it. All the handwringing about county and state election officials cheating, was promptly shut down by the state supreme court. And this wasn’t even about a general election. They shut down the REPUBLICANs from cheating, during their own primaries.

Now, of course, R’s will be targeting state supreme courts, to get MAGAts in there.
