New Mexico Authorities Say They Have Evidence Needed To Prosecute Election Denier And Alleged Shooter

Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman said New Mexico officials believe they have “the pieces of the puzzle” and “the evidence” needed to prosecute Solomon Pena, a failed Republican state House candidate and election denier who was arrested this week in connection to multiple shootings at the homes of state Democratic officials.

Really, TPM?

Yes, really. In New Mexico, we have a long history of Democrats prosecuting Democrats, when that is appropriate.

“Political violence”? As in Dems shooting at R’s on account of politics? Forgive me if I have missed that story coming out of New Mexico.

NYTPitchBot: Whether its Republicans shooting Democrats or Republicans shooting Republicans, both parties have a problem with political violence.

It was an unhappy Democrat who shot Scalise.

James Hodgkinson, a 66-year-old man, asked a passing congressman—South Carolina’s Jeff Duncan—whether Republicans or Democrats were on the field practicing. Once he received confirmation that the Republican representatives were the ones playing ball, Hodgkinson fired off 60 rounds into the unsuspecting elected officials.

Congratulations on winning Both Sides.

No. As in Democratic ethical violations. Dems also prosecute Republican ethical violations and other lawbreaking. But the record indicates that Dems don’t automatically protect their own, unlike the other (near moribund, at least in NM) party.

So will he get prosecuted for Terrorism?

Ethical violations aren’t the ‘political violence’ claims being quoted.

Not really germane to the subject matter at hand, but okay.

While there has been some violence from the liberal side, the idiot that shot a guy in Portland(?), the great majority has been from the right. Cut the both sider bull shit.

Ouch. In the space of one sentence, “We investigate and prosecute impartially” becomes “Both sides do it.”

This gets buttressed (if challenged) by vivid, opposing, discrete examples (Scalise shooter, eg) that create an unspoken impression of equal incidence. The ensuing argument over statistics is inherently dull and sails over the heads of 90% of the audience. End result: widespread, pox-on-both-houses cynicism. Wash, rinse, repeat.

So this terrorist *hired other people *? Prison ought to be fun for him.

I was not in a competition of any kind, but we Dems are not without sins. You’d be a fool or delusional to think so. Which might it be?

All this winning, my head is still spinning!

Something like 5000 black people were lynched by racist white mobs between 1865 and 1965, but also some black folks did commit the occasional crime against a white person.

Kind of misdiagnoses the problem though.

The real action right now is the MSM folks in some quarters who have got Biden set for infamy because of the Documents business.

(O’Donnell barely touched on it Monday night)

Pretty soon they can match Joe with Donnie Two-Impeachments:

OT b/t/w there is a podcast on TPM dealing with the False Equivalency of the two gentlemen’s Documents situation
