A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.
Yielding to a FOIA lawsuit by CREW, the Justice Department has released a key memo that gave Trump Attorney General Bill Barr Barr everything he needed to whitewash the Mueller Report.
As Josh wrote in his Editor’s Column, the criticism of the Mueller Report was never fair. The investigation was artificially hamstrung from the beginning and it’s conclusions were distored and presented in bad faith* by a totally corrupt AG.
Whenever I think of the current political environment, those are the 2 words that keep coming up…
Ron Johnson’s more involved with the contents of your uterus than the envelope full of fake electors the traitor would’ve passed along if the VP had also been a traitor.
The Barr whitewash memo basically concluded that acts normally considered obstruction of justice weren’t in this case because Trump didn’t agree and got angry and Bill Barr didn’t want to get fired.
So Barr did what he did. No surprise, we kind of knew this back in 2019. The question now is a combination of so what and what’re we gonna do about it? Because, honestly, I think the answer to both is nothing more than a shrug.
Police in Georgia are investigating a “swatting” at the home of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA)
Figured this was going to something stupid. The person who did it should be prosecuted for the call and billed for the costs of the officers going to the house. What a stupid thing to do to call attention to a truly important topic. Way to negatively impact the issue.
I’m up against massive amounts of spending. I’m up against the media. They’re very good. They are very good at assassinating people’s character, playing class envy, distorting things beyond any reasonable recognition of things I say.
RoJo weeping about the massive amounts of spending the GQP party apparatus ISN’T spending on him anymore because his goose is cooked. It’s not possible to distort what he says because what he says is to outrageous for even the Onion to print - no one would believe it and he states things as facts (e.g., the recent statement on the electric vehicles for the post office and how Wisconsin doesn’t need any more jobs in the State). You can’t make this up.
Trump Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke lied to investigators, the department’s inspector general concluded in a new report.
See my first point above - so what and who’s going to do anything about it?
Bill Barr has been the bagman for the GOP since Iran/Contra and probably even longer, just behind the scenes. Just because in the waning days of Trump’s criminal enterprise, he bailed doesn’t mean he is a good guy or that he even saw the light, it means he was trying to save his own skin.
I still would love to know his connection to Jeff Epstein and his suicide.
It takes a particularly stupid criminal to call the police back and explain their crime. At the risk of sounding conspiratorial, this sounds like the sort of thing a person would do if they were trying to create a narrative that those who support transgender youth’s rights are violent extremists.
