Some OPEC members weren’t able to meet their current quota, and it’s debatable whether Saudi Arabia could pump at their claimed capacity. The announced cut was unlikely to have the stated impact.
It’s my belief that if we could adjust the medication of crude oil traders, there would be less price volatility. Why should the price change within microseconds of an announcement of a plan ? Nothing has happened yet.
Vlad should reconsider Tulsi’s contract: she couldn’t remember basics, like Ukraine is oppressing its Russian population, or has always been, and will always be, part of Russia. And it’s run by Nazis.
I have an acquaintance who saw Walker being dropped off and picked up at class by a “minder” at UGA.
I’m going with: he was never very bright, was tackled too many times, and has had too many sportsball-worshippers kissing his ass. It’s inconceivable that his services are worth 6-figure payments for any corporate purpose.
Back to the original topic (despite its being the weekend and all), it’s not just the nutty new laws that will mess up election administration.
Gillespie is a blood-red Texas county that lost experienced workers due to harassment from the crazies. The state will have to come in and train new workers - what could possibly go wrong?
The craziness started with 2020 but merged with the anti-fluoride kooks, with “help” from a well-known crank.
Previous elections had been no better. In 2020, a different poll watcher called the police on Herrera and filmed election employees in a dark parking lot. The same year, Herrera received a clutch of obscene, often racist, emails. And in 2019, a group of activists filed suit after Fredericksburg voters overwhelmingly rejected an obscure public-health ballot measure. That election, the activists argued, had been irrevocably tainted by fraud.
Three years of these hostilities were clearly enough for Herrera, who resigned this month.
Harris County (part of Houston) is under siege. Hotze is a mini-Thiel.
Following Trump’s lead, right-wing Texas activist Steven Hotze had raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to investigate alleged election fraud in Harris County, where voters favored Joe Biden by a thirteen-point margin. In December, one of Hotze’s investigators was arrested for holding an air-conditioner repairman at gunpoint in the run-up to the election while searching for 750,000 fraudulent mail ballots. No ballots were found; Hotze and the investigator have been indicted on charges of unlawful restraint and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Other local groups, such as Houston-based True the Vote, continued to spread misinformation about the 2020 election.
Longoria did her best to assuage the concerns of election deniers. She gave several “stop the steal” activists tours of her office. She showed them the new voting machines, which—contrary to what many conspiracy theorists believe—are not connected to the internet. She invited them into the central counting center for the 2021 primary elections. “We developed a very good rapport,” Longoria told me. “I got to the point where one woman said, ‘I believe you. I don’t think you’re trying to steal the election. But I think these machines are Wi-Fi-controlled and that you’ve been fooled.’ It was that level of absurdity.”
Yet another perfectly plausible way for Republicans to take advantage of their base having their heads up their ass. They will never go find out the truth, so let’s take advantage of that all day every day. It’s ‘can’t miss’ and no matter how bad she gets caught out or called out for doing it, no penalty. Their voters wouldn’t care even IF the truth were told and the shameful lie/tactics were eventually exposed. Pretty good gig if you can get it. We all spend our whole lives being honorable and accountable, yet these folks have found a perfectly lucrative auto-propelled moving sidewalk through life.
They can only do this owing to support from the federal government. The unfortunate
outcome of Federalism is that the unity of the whole, and the economic stability that brings, allows for regional, deleterious perturbations to exist almost in perpetuity. This is why Florida, Mississippi, Alabama etc, can maintain themselves as “feudal duchys.” Without the economic stability provided by the Union, their systems would have gone belly up long ago in the midst of economic chaos. Political change, and not necessarily for the better, would be inevitable.
Yeah what is the deal with this spasm of responsibility from him? How bad must it be if he decides to lift a finger on this issue…especially right before an election?
