Trump’s appointees, who had no government experience and were incompetent, constantly got tangled up in their own plots (see the 2020 census writeup). Biden’s appointees have a high level of competence and will get a lot done in a hurry.

Giving John Kerry a new role and placing him in the NSC was what showed me that everything the Biden administration does will be seen through a climate-impact lens. I think it’s the most important hire he made.
