A rape case that Colorado Republican Senate candidate Ken Buck refused to prosecute in 2005 was in the media last week, and is on the airways this week, in a new ad from the Women’s Voices. Women Vote Action Fund. The ad features a comment that Buck made to a newspaper about the case, back in 2006. He said that among the reasons a jury might decline the case was that they could view it as an instance of “buyer’s remorse.” The woman in the case said she was raped while drunk, after she had invited a former lover to her apartment. Buck’s comment is part of the reason the woman says she is still angry about how Buck handled her case. On Sunday, Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet brought up the comment during a debate with Buck on Meet The Press.
