Never Mind! WH Swiftly Walks Back Email Detailing Eviction Instructions | Talking Points Memo

Yes.

In general, a president never needs the AG to actually write every pardon. At the DOJ there is an Office of the Pardon Attorney that is technically equal to the task. The White House Counsel’s office can also play a role, often when politics is the crux, but in this case I’m not sure Cipollone himself wants to be involved.

What I find interesting is that Pat came out with this at a time when other news and opinion outlets were being threatened with law suits over libel issues. I’m guessing his lawyers sat him down for a “come to Jesus” reality check.

Already looking forward to Alexandra Petri’s version of the memo.

Fortunately, potentially competent fascists Tom Cotton and Ted Cruz, both leading competitors for Gingrich’s and Buchanan’s endorsement for 2024, are thoroughly unlikable. That may help insure their success with the lib-owning base, but they can’t win a national election. It’s a crisis for the GOP!

How many “voting machines” do you suppose there are in say, Pennsylvania? What about Michigan? Can you imagine the process required to “seize” those machines? How many “technicians” would it take to do the audit of each machine, and how long would that take? I realize that if he gets physical custody of the machine, then the data will say whatever he wants it to say, but it would still be quite an achievement to get access. I also understand that he has been informed by some of his own people that he has no authority to seize machines, although I’m sure in the Big Book o’ Laws that Giuliani has it says he can do anything he wants to do.
I agree that he’s going to try to do something insane, but the whole thing may be more complex than he realizes.

AFAIK he can declare all he wants. And he has been. It won’t change the fact that all states have certified their electors and have approved electors. Of course, January 6th will be a circus but he’s still not be likely to prevail. Not to say we aren’t in dangerous territory, though.

You mean like the various sheriff departments in California and elsewhere that have said they’ll defy any orders to enforce covid restrictions? Or the ones in Oregon who refused mutual aid requests for Portland? Those local authorities?

You know, I don’t know what caused Pat to do that video but when he starts talking about what a liar Trump is, he drips with sarcasm toward Trump. There’s more there than meets the eye - perhaps they had a fight over the election results? Don’t know but Pat was not kind.

Ashtrays, too.

Which is why it’ll fail, like all his other grandiose plans.

One and about 30 minutes. “We began the process of seizing the voting machines and the very first one our hand-picked technician checked was clearly rigged to give Biden votes. More to follow…” At which point, it’s off to the races in right wing propaganda land.

Shades of Herbert Hoover…1932 till Tricky Dick

Rumor has it the minimum bid is set to $50,000 for those that have is classic, wide-felty personal signature; considered a bargain at any price among some circles.

That is a good example of sheriffs and county commissions not understanding what institution authorizes their power

They can talk.

That’s a full 29 minutes more than I imagine it will take them. If they even wait to seize any machines before pre-announcing the results.

Barr is out and Cippolone is probably next. Then unimaginable hell breaks loose, because when you’ve gone too far for those guys…
