My undergrad degree was Econ, and I seriously considered pursuing an academic career in the field. I was initially attracted to the whole law and economics movement, and I still think it is useful analytically.
As applied, what I see happen too often is that concrete dollar amounts are exalted over other valuable things (air that doesn’t kill you) that are more difficult to quantify.
