Cherokee Guns, a gun store located in a small North Carolina town, on Monday took down its incendiary billboard attacking progressive Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
Before the billboard was removed, a Cherokee Guns sales manager insisted to TPM last week that the billboard wasnât a âdirect threat of violenceâ and didnât promote âhatred toward anybody.â
Keep it up, asshole, your wink, wink, nod, nod ainât fooling anybody. Youâre going to help us pass actual, meaningful gun control in this county once and for all.
Over the last three days, has anyone noticed a change in the reporting? In the past, while the seeds of these shootings were mentioned, it was not front and center. Now it feels like the media are actually going upstream and acting like white nationalism is an active assault on the country. It feels like a real national emergency. I approve.
In the past you didnât have such a clean and clear picture of the nexus of a President calling brown people an invasion and exhorting his followers to do something about it and one of them going and doing something about itâŚ
Poor baby got death threats. Its so odd, the four Women on his billboard receive death threats all the time, constantly, maybe some as a result of his sign, but they arenât backing down. When you pll back the curtain these macho gun guys have very delicate sensibilities.
No argument with that at all. It is refreshing to see it all presented in the context it should be. This should have been happening long ago. One thing that seems removed is the episodic nature in reporting, instead it has become a war against us and not singular battles.
