The communications director for Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) had resigned amid allegations that the congressman made payments to multiple women recruited online for sex, according to NBC News.

A source told the network that Luke Ball, who has been a spokesman for Gaetz since 2019, resigned out of principle.
This seems incongruous with having taken a job with Matt Gaetz in the first place.

Honestly, is Gaetz going to try to ride this out?
The idea that any republican would do anything “out of principle” --being a ludicrous proposition on its face–notwithstanding, this is just another sign that Gaetz is “Burnt toast walking.”
I’m willing to consider a criminal conspirator’s statement of remorse, but don’t try to tell me that it comes from any place of principle.

The thing that is being ignored is that the rest of the House Republican conference knew some part of this, and they still allowed Gaetz to have an outsized influence on their public message. There’s no way that Gaetz was just showing nude photos of young women to them, bragging would have been included…but the good ol’ white boys in the Republican party probably just slapped his back and wished they could be in on it. And, maybe they were…this investigation is going to lead to the people Gaetz fed the women to, and it’s unlikely that some powerful Republican politicians or players aren’t included.
I’m hoping the media starts to pick apart how the Republicans who knew about this just let it go along, and that the media finds the clients. The Republican party is pretty corrupt at this point, and sex with minors is something that everyone will be very upset about. Though, I wonder what QAnon is going to do when it turns out it was the Republican party that was dealing in sex trafficking of young women…maybe they just won’t vote in 2022.

Currently, I’m listening to the White House Covid-19 Response Briefing and Fauci just remains so positive on the potential of the vaccines – though he did breathe the dreaded six months words. He wasn’t saying the question has been answered definitively, his point was that the vaccines are effective for at least six months, but I know we are all hoping it winds up more.
