A week after the inauguration they’ll go back to chasing whores, drinking to excess, losing laptops and misplacing service weapons. They have to, it’s their job.
Houston…
Wait until it fades away even more next week, that 27% of Republicans will be down to maybe 10. In a month, won’t even be measurable.
I’m not so sure you’re looking at this from a proper perspective. Incompetence is probably a part of this but a far bigger factor is an informal bond between authoritarian rightist in law enforcement and authoritarian rightist on the street. There’s bro factor here that is not going to fix itself. It has to be weeded out.
Let me add…don’t expect this to be fixed anytime soon. It’s been around a long time and everyone knows it’s there. When I was younger I lived in Oklahoma for a bit. My hair was down to the middle of my back and I drove a VW Super Beetle with a custom paint job of butterflies and flowers and an odor of Mother Nature was always present in it. In Oklahoma. I was not “right” so the Cop’s pulled me over all the time for all kinds of bullshit. I learned that one button on my radio must be tuned into a red neck noise station and to push it when pulled over. With Wayland or Merle turned up loud I got a break that Led Zeppelin or The Who would not get me.
It was there then. It aint been weeded out yet and I doubt it ever will.
Jeesh. Why do I see the GOP as a threat to democracy?
Now that is very illuminating.
I think the 68% is made up of “shy insurrectionists” and “shy seditionists”. They all think the shit is great.
Hammer? Meet nail!
I have the solution to our problems.
Trump is the catalyst of this mayhem and extremism.
Make him legally liable for every terrorist act committed in his name.
(Just now crawling out from under 4538.3 tons of bricks thrown at me–the majority from litigators…but the fact of the matter is: this is stochastic terrorism)
OT Whether this is to be litigated or not, norm-related-thinking, including the strong norms called mores have got Trump, his minions and the GOP directly responsible for all of this damage
Speaking of cynical, I was wondering if a foreign entanglement would distract everyone for a while. However it’s also true that our last 20 years of war have done plenty to harden the militant right.
“I hope the one result from this is that law enforcement actually takes domestic terrorism by right wing forces seriously now.” law enforcement is a right wing force for all practical purposes.
they aren’t?
A bit OT, but we have the same approach to threat here in AZ with respect to vaccinations for Covid-19. We’ve been given an online site which lists numerous locations for vaccination, only a couple of which are up and running. The rest all say “Unavailable.” Which mirrors the security the Capitol was depending on last week.
Let’s just hope Twitter users continue to do their work for them, like with all these seditionist tips.
Speculating-
Do you think the FBI selected its trump-devotees for DC, figuring they’d keep the president safe?
And you wouldn’t want agents that would poke into inaugural fraud, either.
Wonder what this means for their cointel/Russia capabilities.
And do not overlook the role played (in part) by conscious design and intentionality, on the part of some in leadership positions…
DC Mayor Bowser knew about the threat. That is why she had 340 National Guard troops deployed before Jan 6th. How is that a Mayor’s intelligence about right wing threats is better than the FBI and DHS?
Money buys access to power. There is more sense of power belonging to a presidential administration then you would ever have managing Divisional Headquarters for Morgan Stanley. Money needs more money and when enough is amassed that in turn becomes the vehicle for purchasing power. Power when purchased corrupts absolutely. Citizens United must be repealed.
Yup, those pictures posted above of the militarized city cop unit with armored vehicles and all are not set up to control white mobs are they?
And the man who supervised the prosecution is the new AGUS.
