The Navy captain who was relieved of command after ringing the alarm bell over coronavirus infections on an aircraft carrier should be given his job back, Navy officials recommended on Friday.

The so-called Commander-in-Chief is AWOL and petty, undeserving and unworthy of holding his office, so I vote YES for the reinstatement.

e.g., “Fuck you, Mr Secretary. Fuck you, Mr President.”

Hm. I don’t know. Can I see the list of war atrocities he’s committed first? Just looking at past instances that Trump has reinstated a naval officer for guidance here.

“But the final decision on reinstating of Capt. Brett Crozier’s command of the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt rests with Defense Secretary Mark Esper.”

Then Crozier’s screwed.

So he gets reinstated, but probably will never make Admiral because his record was smeared.

The only difficult thing about this one is should he get his old ship back or a different ship. I’m not current or ex-military, but I would think it has been a short enough break that he could go back to the TR.

Esper has to spin it in a way that narcissist Trump can take credit or it won’t happen.

the Pentagon chief has asked for additional time to consider whether to sign-off on Crozier’s reinstatement

He is waiting to get direction from tRump

True, but Esper’s screwed no matter how this goes. If he reinstates with Trump’s blessing, he looks like a fool for letting Modley fire Crozier. If he reinstates without Trump’s blessing, Trump will throw a hissy fit and fire Esper (on second thought, this isn’t a bad outcome for Esper). If he doesn’t reinstate Crozier because that is what Trump wants, he looks like a toady. The most Trumpy thing to do would be for Esper to double down on his original decision and not reinstate Crozier even if Trump wants Crozier back (unlikely, but this year has been nuts so who knows) .

Crozier’s replacement on TR is his predecessor, who was hauled out of his rear-admiral chair to resume command. So sounds like the navy brass thought it might be a short assignment.

Crozier reinstated to command, but only after being bathed in UV light inside and out (those endoscopes shine, baby).

All Crozier has to do to get reinstated is the same thing all the War Criminals who Trump pardoned do: Kiss Trump’s Ass Publicly.

However, Crozier seems to be afflicted with “Honor, Integrity, and Morality” so I don’t think he will do that.

If not now, then he’ll be reinstated by President Biden early in 2021.

I’d appoint him as Secretary of the Navy or Secretary of Defense, but I know he’s got to be out of the military for seven years before he’s eligible for those positions.

I suppose they could return him as Captain to the Theodore Roosevelt at Captain’s rank, or promote him to Admiral. Given how he puts sailors above his own career, I’d let him write his own check and position description. Crozier is worth more than his weight in gold.

I suppose there would have to be some recognition that he indeed violated policy by disregarding the highly-vaunted ‘chain of command’, but my instinct tells me that he knows this and is willing to acknowledge that he did so with what he believed to be just cause?

For sure. He’s waiting on some sort of signalling on which way he should go before he jumps. Leadership!

It really depends on whether Trump has any empathy and recognizes a real leader when he sees one. So, yeah, he’s screwed.

The navy has determined he did not violate the chain of command.

Wait, does this mean the court martial concluded him guilty? Or is that only for the special forces?
