I’m so old… I recall when Dick was all in on Trump. The only reason he’s not, now, is because Cheney’s daughter Liz has become a target of the Orange One.

Elon Musk ordered Starlink to be turned off during Ukraine offensive, book says | Elon Musk | The Guardian

Why yes he did
Elon Musk admits preventing Ukrainian attack on Russia by refusing access to Starlink ‘to avoid being complicit in a major act of war’ - but furious Kyiv says his ‘big ego’ led to civilians being killed | Daily Mail Online

The world’s richest man began providing free access to Space X’s Starlink internet terminals in the early days of the Russian invasion in February 2022, which have been vital in allowing Ukrainians to communicate and coordinate their resistance.

But, at the end of last year, his enthusiasm began to wane, and he became increasingly concerned about taking sides - ultimately ordering that the internet be shut down to stop a ‘kamikaze drone’ submarine attack on Russian warships.

“But I’m not here to dunk on Navarro. It’s too easy. It feels unkind.”

think of it as simply giving Navarro precisely what he vigorously earned!

Disinformation expert misinforms……

The BBC’s first ever disinformation correspondent was once caught lying about her work experience on her résumé while applying for a job, according to The New European . The magazine reports that Marianna Spring, 27, had been applying for work as a Moscow freelancer with the site Coda Story in 2018 when she claimed to have previously reported “on International News during the World Cup, specifically the perception of Russia, with BBC correspondent Sarah Rainsford.” In reality, Spring had only ever met Rainsford in social situations, and Coda Story editor in chief Natalia Antelava discovered the truth when she checked with Rainsford. Spring sent Antelava an apology for her “awful” misjudgment in an email after the lie was exposed, nevertheless insisting that the rest of her résumé was “entirely true.” “Telling me you are a brilliant reporter who exercises integrity and honesty when you have literally demonstrated the opposite was a terrible idea,” Antelava allegedly replied, before declining to continue with her application. “I am sure if you use this as a lesson, things will work out,” Antelava added.

DA Willis Fires Back At “Gym” Jordan

Responding to MAGAt Rep. Jim " Gym " Jordan’ s August 24 letter aimed at obstructing her case against the Malignant Loser for his election interference, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis fired off a strong response today questioning Jordan’s jurisdiction and motives. From CNN:

"Willis, a Democrat, condemned Jordan’s investigation into her case against former President Donald Trump and his allies. She said the Jordan probe’s 'obvious purpose is to obstruct a Georgia criminal proceeding and to advance outrageous partisan misrepresentations .’

She argued, ‘there is no justification in the Constitution for Congress to interfere with a state criminal matter, as you attempt to do.’

Dismissing Jordan’s requests for a broad array of documents pertaining to her investigation, Willis argued Congress does not have the jurisdiction to seek information about her ongoing criminal investigation.

‘Your letter seeks the revelation of non-public and privileged information concerning my office’s investigation and prosecution of a specific case,’ Willis wrote. ’ Your job description as a legislator does not include criminal law enforcement, nor does it include supervising a specific criminal trial because you believe that doing so will promote your partisan political objectives .'” (our emphasis)

Jordan, a rabid MAGAt cult member and current chair of the House Judiciary Committee, is looking for ways to derail the criminal case against his cult leader, including cutting Federal funds to Fulton County for law enforcement activities, including rape and hate crime prosecutions, and programs for at-risk children.

Willis went on to demolish Jordan’s insinuation that the criminal case was brought because of the Malignant Loser’s candidacy:

“‘The basic premise of your letter is wrong. The criminal defendant about which you express concern was fully aware of the existence of the criminal investigation being conducted by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office at the time he announced his candidacy for President .’ [snip]

An announcement of a candidacy for elected office , whether President of the United States, Congress, or state or local office, is not and cannot be a bar to criminal investigation or prosecution . Any notion to the contrary is offensive to our democracy and to the fundamental principle that all people are equal before the law.'" (our emphasis)

By telling Jordan that his attempt to derail the case won’t fly, Willis is sending a signal to him and other MAGAts that state criminal cases into their cult leader are beyond the reach of their obstruction.

But there’s not a precedent that I can recall for criminal courts to be a mere way station on the way to a presidential pardon…

To say nothing of a mere weigh station!

It’s another perhaps subtler way (but not that subtle!) in which Trump is a sustained attack on the rule of law. And there’s no obvious structural answer for what to do about it. The practical answer is make sure he doesn’t win in 2024.

Words to live by. Even more important than “The answer is 42.”

Fetterman is doing neither, he’s calling performance BS what it is, viz Vance “wants to put up an act that’s going to go nowhere” instead of being “worried about something that really can be transformative for rail safety.” (BI)

Navarro is aiming for a double bank shot: 1) Trump wins election in 2024; and 2) Trump pardons him. It’s a risky bet, on both counts. In Trump we trust. Good luck with that.
